Chapter 39
***
Woodrow arrived at the elevator and saw a nurse blocking two
women, refusing to let them go to Kaneeta’s hospital room.
Nyasia was fuming with anger.
She hadn’t wanted to apologize to Kaneeta in the first place; it
was Lila who had forced her to come.
And now Kaneeta even dared to have someone stop them?
She had no intention of dealing with this nurse, but
unfortunately, the nurse was quite capable and managed to
block the two of them completely.
Nyasia was furious: “Do you even know who we are? If you
offend the Kuntz family, you won’t be able to survive in
Calchester…”
The nurse ignored her completely. Out of the corner of her eye,
she saw Woodrow approaching and immediately turned around,
greeting him respectfully: “Mr. Hartwell.”
Woodrow’s icy gaze fell on Nyasia.

Nyasia met his eyes and couldn’t help but shiver.
At this moment, she could see that in Woodrow’s eyes, there was
not only coldness but also disgust, as if she were some kind of
trash.
How infuriating….
She was beautiful, had a great figure, and plenty of men pursued
her–so why did Woodrow look at her like that?
It must be Kaneeta, who must have said all sorts of bad things
about her to Woodrow!
“Mr. Hartwell.” Lila forced a smile onto her face. “Is this nurse
working for you?”
Woodrow said nothing, so Lila continued, “Neeta is in the
hospital, and I’ve been worried about her. I specially made her
favorite soup to bring to her, but your people have been stopping
us from going in… Neeta is my daughter–in–law. Isn’t this a bit
much…?”
”
In fact, the nurse was blocking them without Woodrow’s
instructions, but he didn’t refute it. He simply spoke coldly,
repeating the three most important words.
“Daughter–in–law?”
Chapter 39
“Yes, Neeta is my son’s wife, so naturally she’s also…”
“If I remember correctly,” Woodrow cut her off without giving
her any face, “Ms. Drayton has made it very clear that she and
Edmund have broken up and have nothing to do with each other
anymore.”
Lila forced a smile: “Young couples have their quarrels–how can
you take it seriously? Besides, Neeta and Ed are legally married,
so what’s the point of saying they’ve broken up… Right, Nya?”
Lila always felt insecure in front of Edmund and was eager to
find someone to back her up. Now, the only person she could
turn to was Nyasia.
“Ah… yes, yes.” Nyasia’s eyes flickered with guilt.
Although Lila knew there was something improper between her
and Edmund, she didn’t know they had secretly gotten married,
nor did she know that Edmund and Kaneeta’s marriage
certificate was actually fake.
Woodrow caught every trace of guilt on her face, the corner of
his mouth curling into a mocking smile.
“A criminal dares to appear so brazenly in front of the victim?”
“I’m not…” Nyasia instinctively wanted to retort, but when she

met Edmund’s icy gaze, she trembled again and dared not speak
further.
Woodrow didn’t want them to sully Kaneeta’s sight. He gave the
nurse a look, and the nurse immediately said, “Please leave at
once, or I’ll have someone drag you out. By then, it won’t look
good for you.”
Lila was angry too, but what could she do in front of Woodrow?
Damn Kaneeta had even blocked her contact information, so
now she couldn’t even call Kaneeta if she wanted to.
She needed to have a good talk with Edmund. When Kaneeta
came to him to admit her mistakes, he must make things difficult
for her!
“Let’s go,” Lila said to Nyasia.
Nyasia hadn’t wanted to apologize to Kaneeta anyway, so she
was naturally pleased to hear this.
What she didn’t expect was that she would be taken into custody
that very night.
