But in the end, Edmund didn’t kiss Nyasia’s lips. He just lowered
his head and pecked on her forehead.
Kaneeta knew. Though he was a bit drunk, he still remembered
his identity clearly and would never kiss Nyasia in front of so
many people.

What had he said back then? Oh, right. “Neeta, we should always
separate work from personal matters.” What a ridiculous joke!
Just then, Kaneeta’s assistant texted her again, “It seems Ms.
Kuntz really is Mr. Kuntz’s girlfriend. No wonder he gave her the
project we’ve been working on for so long. This is so unfair! I had
no idea he’d play favorites like this.”
Kaneeta replied to her, “Hey, don’t say that again. Especially not
to others.”
Edmund and Nyasia were not to mess with.
Her assistant would suffer if she offended them.

“Chill. I won’t. But Ms. Drayton… Everyone knows how much
you’ve poured into the project. Are you really just gonna let her
take it away?”
Kaneeta calmly replied, “It’s fine.”
Nyasia wanted her project?
Sure. Take it. As long as she could bear the consequences…

In the morning, Nyasia left the office to meet with clients about
the project.
Before stepping out, she glanced at Kaneeta provocatively,
curving her rosy lips.
Those who had worked on the project with Kaneeta stole glances
at her, but none of them dared to speak up.
After all, everyone knew how close Nyasia and Edmund were.
Besides, Edmund had announced her as the project lead.
Though they all felt it was so unfair to Kaneeta, no one dared to
voice any objections.
Kaneeta clearly noticed the strange looks on their faces, but she
continued to deal with work, seeming calm.

They all figured she was just pretending and felt even more sorry
for her.
To their surprise, when Nyasia came back after a few hours, she
was seething with rage.
She glared at Kaneeta before storming straight into Edmund’s
office.

The rest were baffled. After Nyasia closed the office door, they
immediately asked the two colleagues who’d attended the
meeting with her, wanting to know what had happened.
Yet, the two said nothing, their expressions unreadable.
In the office, Nyasia was complaining to Edmund, sitting on his
lap.
“Ed, the clients deliberately gave me a hard time!” Her eyes
reddened. “They picked on me because I’m new here…”
Edmund furrowed his brows tightly. “That makes no sense. Was
there some misunderstanding?”
“What misunderstanding?” Nyasia fumed.
No matter what she said, they all shook their heads dismissively.
They kept asking her where Kaneeta was and even said things
like “If Ms. Drayton were here…

It was no different from saying Kaneeta was better than her.
The project was about to wrap up. Why did they have to be so
nitpicky?
“Ed, this is my first project after joining the company. The others
will definitely mock me if I screw up!” She wrapped her arms
around his neck, tears streaming down her cheeks.
“Hey, don’t cry.” He fumbled to wipe away her tears.
After much hesitation, he said, “Maybe you should ask Neeta to
join you the next time. After all, she’s been handling the project
all this time. No one knows the details better than her.”
He had thought Nyasia could deal with the project. After all, it
was already in its final stages.
But… as it turned out, Kaneeta had to step in.
From Kaneeta’s earlier reactions, she seemed reluctant to help
Nyasia.
But it was fine. She would surely change her mind, as long as he
coaxed her nicely.
“Nya, you may leave. And have Neeta… Have Ms. Drayton come
in.”

He wiped Nyasia’s tears away and continued to coax her a bit,
promising he’d buy her the latest designer bag. Only then did she
walk out reluctantly.
She looked around but didn’t see Kaneeta. After asking around,
she learned that Kaneeta was in the pantry.
After pushing the door to the pantry, she indeed saw Kaneeta,
who was brewing coffee.
The rich aroma of the coffee filled the air, but she was still
seething with rage and jealousy. She coldly glared at Kaneeta’s
back, having the urge to tear Kaneeta into pieces.
Though Kaneeta didn’t turn around, she seemed to know it was
Nyasia behind her. She said flatly, “What’s up?”
“Ed wants you in his office.” Nyasia’s voice was icy.
But Kaneeta had no intention of leaving right away. She brewed
the coffee, poured it into the cup, added a sugar cube, and stirred
it slowly.
Seeing this, Nyasia was further enraged. “Didn’t you hear what I
said?”
“Nyasia,” Kaneeta looked up, her gaze razor–sharp, “You need my
help. Is this how you talk to me?”

Suddenly, Nyasia’s eyes widened as she snapped, “It was you, right? You were behind this! You asked the clients to pick on me!”
“You think too much.” Kaneeta curved her lips in contempt.
She didn’t do anything.
But she had anticipated this.

Though the project was wrapping up, and there wasn’t much
work left to do, certain efforts were still needed.
Besides, she knew Nyasia didn’t really have any skills.
After all, they’d crossed paths back in college. Also, Edmund had dropped some offhand remarks about Nyasia before.

Edmund give her a project that was about to be completed? It was
such a key project, and he surely knew how risky it was,
changing the person in charge so abruptly.
But in a way, it also showed how much he cared about Nyasia.

Yet Kaneeta stood in place calmly, not arguing with her or
heading to Edmund’s office.
After glaring at her for a while, Nyasia suddenly let out a sneer.
“Don’t be so smug just yet, Kaneeta. It’s just a project. Don’t tell me
you think you’ve won. Get real–I’m the one who gets the last
laugh.” She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, looking
complacent. “Surely, you can tell how much Ed cares about me,
right?”
Kaneeta’s gaze darkened.
Of course, Edmund cared about Nyasia. He even helped her cover
up her orchestrated car wreck.
The car wreck cost Kaneeta’s leg and her dream of dancing. She
no longer wanted to be with Edmund, but this? She’d never get
over this.

Figuring Kaneeta was upset about losing Edmund, she grew even
more complacent.
Kaneeta was about to walk past her with the coffee.
Just then, she quickly said, “Kaneeta, I’ll show you just how much
