Chapter 4
Roselyn looked at me sitting dejectedly on the ground and burst into laughter, pointing at my nose and saying loudly, “Lake used to love you so much, what happened? 1 just beckoned with my finger and he ended up in my bed. And what difference does it make if Jonas married you? In your own home, he still ended up in bed with me.”
“Elisa, I used to hate you so much when I saw your arrogant attitude. Now, you have become a whore despised by everyone!”
“Do you know that when Jonas was plotting against you, he found out that you were pregnant? But what difference does it make? He still showed no mercy. While you were bleeding profusely, he was with me at the golf course, and I must say, I made a great shot… Your screams echoed through the air above the golf course, quite melodious
Roselyn’s words hit me like a thunderbolt, leaving me frozen in place. It turns out Jonas had known about my pregnancy all along, and he not only allowed this malicious woman to torment me, but he didn’t even spare our child.
Roselyn paced back and forth in front of me, watching me in a dazed and helpless state, with a smug look on her face. I couldn’t bear it any longer and stepped forward, grabbing Roselyn by the neck. But my body hadn’t fully recovered, and my strength was too weak. Before I could do anything to her, she pulled away and screamed for help towards the door.
“Jonas, come and save me, Elisa has gone m
mad, Jonas…”
The door was forcefully pushed open by Jonas from the outside, and he pushed me to the ground, embracing Roselyn. He softly asked, “Roselyn, what’s going on? How did things escalate like this when everything was line?”
Roselyn looked at Jonas, tears streaming down her face. “Jonas, I told you before I came here that I wanted to help Elisa with her mental well–being from a professional perspective. The method I used was to have her retell the things that happened to her. But I never expected that she would try to strangle me.” As she spoke, she burst into tears.
Jonas turned and looked at me, his eyes filled with coldness. “Shut up, Elisa! I don’t understand why you have such a strong prejudice against Roselyn! She kindly came to comfort you, and what do you do? Kill someone?! I’m truly ashamed to have a wife like you! Disgusting!” with that, he picked up Roselyn and turned away, and before leaving, Roselyn looked at me with a victorious smile.
Tears soaked my clothes as I looked around the home that Jonas and I had carefully decorated. I stared at my ghostly reflection in the mirror and burst into laughter. It was all fale. Since they were determined to destroy me, I wouldn’t let them get away with it! With that thought in mind, I took out my phone and dialed the number that I knew by heart but hadn’t dialed in years.
After Jonas left the room, he felt a bit regretful. He thought he had said something too harsh. Because it seemed that Roselyn didn’t really care. Sure enough, as soon as they stepped out, Roselyn started clamoring to go to the mall to see that limited edition bag, Jonas hesitated for a moment, but thinking about Elisa’s obedience on normal days, he gradually let go of his worries
At the mall, Jonas called George while Roselyn wasn’t paying attention, asking him to go home and check on Elisa’s condition. After hanging up the call, Jones felt completely at ease, thinking that George, a mere George, would be enough to handle Elisa’s situation.
All day long, Jonas and Roselyn spent the day at the mall, acting like a couple in the honeymoon phase. When it started to get dark, Roselyn finally exclaimed that she was tired and wanted to go back. Once they got back to the car, Jonas finally took a breath and picked up his phone, only to discover that there were over a hundred missed calls, all from George.
Jonas’s heart sank as he started the car and dialed the phone. The phone rang just once before it was answered, and on the other end, George sounded extremely panicked, “Jonas, it’s bad news. Mrs. Graham is missing, and… and the billions of dollars in the company’s accounts have vanished! And, I don’t know how, but the reporters have all gathered at the company’s entrance!”
