As soon as Mandy reg5ained consciousness at the hospital, Mateo knelt beside her, expressing his apology and blaming himself for not protecting her well enough.
Mandy simply shook her head and asked about me instead. “What about the woman who was kidnapped with me? Is she alright?”
Mateo tenderly caressed Mandy’s head.
“You have such a kind heart,” he said.
“I truly love you for that.”
Mandy turned red at his comments, and she forgot to ask further about my situation.
Once Mandy was asleep, Mateo left the ward and instructed his
subordinate, “Draft a divorce agreement for me and allocate 40% of my shares to my wife.
“Also, inform her to vacate the master bedroom. Mandy is timid and needs someone to be with her while she sleeps.”
The subordinate was a bit puzzled. Hadn’t the divorce agreement already been finalized? Could the prior one be invalid? He didn’t dare to question further and promptly prepared a new one for Mateo.
The following day, Mateo spent the entire day at the company waiting for Lina, but she didn’t appear.

A subordinate who lingered close by, hesitating before saying, “Mr. Craige, maybe Mrs. Craige is in the hospital.”
Mateo furrowed his brows as he recalled ordering her fingers broken just the day before. No wonder she hadn’t responded.
He passed the divorce papers to the subordinate and instructed icily, “Locate the hospital where she’s receiving treatment and have her sign it.”
The subordinate was just about to walk away when Mateo stopped him. “After you find her, station a few men to keep an eye on her. She’s very vengeful and could try something underhanded against Mandy.
“If you discover her scheming, send her to Ascension Psychiatric Services. Only let her go once Mandy’s baby has been born.”
That evening, when Mateo got home, the master bedroom was impeccably tidy, with no sign of Lina anywhere.
The familiar feeling of unease rose in his chest once more. He was on the verge of calling his subordinate for information when he heard piano music drifting up from downstairs.
He thought, “Is she back? After all, where else would she go but his place?”
As the years went by, her capabilities became increasingly sharp. Mateo needed to seize this chance to file them down correctly, or she would certainly harm Mandy. With this resolve, Mateo descended the stairs and opened the door to the piano room.

“Who gave you permission to play this piano?”
He ordered this customized piano for Lina.
The piano music halted abruptly. Mandy glanced up in alarm, locking eyes with Mateo’s somewhat icy stare.
“The butler told me I could explore as I pleased. I’m sorry.”
Noticing Mandy’s tearful eyes, Mateo’s demeanor softened. He moved closer and embraced her gently.

Mandy’s eyes softened with understanding, and the irritation from his earlier outburst disappeared.
