Chapter 4
“I went to pick you up,” Adeline said with a faint expression.
At the words, an indescribable emotion suddenly appeared on Brent’s face, and he asked in a low voice, “Did L… do something inappropriate?”
Adeline calmly glanced at him, shook her head, and then applied lipstick before leaving
Brent quickly grabbed her, “Where are you going?”
“Go and see Devon.”
Upon hearing these words, Brent’s tace darkened, and he pulled her back again, whispering, “Adele, stay away from him in the future, there’s something off about the way he looks at you.”
I thought she would agree directly, but she looked straight at him instead and said, “What’s wrong? Isn’t it the same as the way you look at Mariah?”
“Mariah was my friend.” Brent’s face stiffened as if his thoughts had been exposed, but she still refused to cooperate. “Devon was also my friend.”
He cleared his throat and pressed his forehead, feeling a slight headache. “Adele, I can agree with you on everything else, but on this matter, you have to listen to me. I am a man, so I understand what men think.”
After speaking, he seemed to want to appease her and went to pull open the drawer next to the bed. “Be good, don’t go, okay? Look, I bought you a gift before I went on a business trip, and today is the perfect day to give it to you”
As the drawer was pulled open, perhaps because it was not placed properly, the paper divorce agreement book made a snap sound and fell at Brent’s feet!
Chapter 5
He lowered his head and was about to pick up the document to examine it closely, but another hand swiftly picked up the document from the ground
Brent’s gaze fell on the document in her arms as she moved, understanding what it meant. “Is this the document you signed for me last time?”
Adeline finally realized that he had not read the words on top. He let out a sigh of relief and nodded, then burst into laughter
“Why do you treasure it so much? I said it’s yours, and I can bear anything”
She didn’t respond, afraid that he would inquire further. She could only change the subject and bring up the previous topic, “You said you bought me a gift, what is it?
“Come, I’ll take you to see,” Hearing her question, Birent suddenly remembered what he had originally intended to do, and he took out a key from the drawer and waved it at her.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that it was a villa.
Brent led Adeline into the villa while introducing her to the layout. “Didn’t you say before that the old house was dull and lacked a sense of home? I bought a new one and decorated in entirely according to your preferred style.”
As Adeline passed by the garden, a large patch of purple orchids caught her eye. Brent’s gentle voice sounded in her ear, “You said you like orchids, so I especially had someone transplant a parch in the backyard.”
After speaking, he continued to walk forward with her and went straight to the baby room next to the master bedroom. The door of the room opened, and It was filled with baby items.
Brent embraced Adeline from behind and spoke, sentence by sentence, about his imagined future, with tenderness and affection.
“When our child was born, we let him live here, close to us, without disturbing our life as a couple”
“You said, what name should we give to our child when he is bom?”
“You were called Adele, so let’s call you Ada, okay?”
Brent lowered his head and realized that Adeline had been in tears, without him receiving any response from her.
He wiped away her tears with a slightly amused expression, without thinking much about it.
“How did it become so touching?
Adeline let him wipe away her tears, but she did not answer his question
Only she knew that she cried not because she was moved.
At that moment, a familiar female voice suddenly came from outside the door, “Brent, Adeline, what a coincidence!!!
It was Mariah..
She walked in with a smile on her face and immediately looked directly at Brent.
“Lalso had my eye on this villa, but the agent said it was sold, and it turns out it was you, Brent. I just returned to the country and have nowhere to stay. Can you please let me have this house?”
Although it was a question, her eyes were already filled with a look of determination.
