Chapter 3
At five o’clock in the afternoon, Garrett’s car arrived at the front gate of the villa on time.
Ruth carried her bag downstairs and was about to open the car door when she saw a familiar face.
It was Anne.
She sat in the passenger seat, holding a big bag of snacks and drinks, and greeted her with an
innocent face.
“Madam, I felt dizzy in the car. Could you please sit in the back seat today?”
Watching the pride flash in her eyes, Ruth lowered her gaze and caught sight of a trinket in front of
the windshield.
It was a customized version of Hello Kitty, with a line of words printed on the butterfly on top.
“Anne, the little princess, had her own exclusive co–pilot seat!”
Seeing Ruth not speaking and not moving, Garrett knew she was upset again. He whispered, “Anne has never been to an auction before, let her experience the world. She is delicate, Ruth, please be
tolerant.”
Be tolerant?
Of course, she didn’t want him anymore anyway, it’s just a position, it can be given up.
Ruth chuckled lightly and turned around to get into the back seat.
Along the way, Anne ate various cakes and snacks.
Then, using the spoon I had used before, I fed Garrett while showing affection as if no one else was
around.
The two of them were chatting about everything under the sun, and he couldn’t stop smiling at her amusing remarks and occasional coquetry.
From beginning to end, Ruth didn’t even bother to give a glance, as she opened the car window to admire the autumn scenery outside.
When we arrived at our destination, Anne took only a few steps and then complained about her feet being sore from the high heels.
Garrett chuckled and said she was delicate, but without hesitation, he took her to the nearest mall and personally helped her pick out flat shoes, trying on pair after pair for her.
Watching him half–kneeling on the ground, checking the softness of the shoes with such

thoughtfulness, Ruth couldn’t help but recall half a month ago when she had a high fever, feeling completely exhausted. Even when she asked him to bring her a glass of water, he refused with such a dignified manner.
The little princess who was placed at the top of everyone’s hearts, received special treatment.
Before, she was also cherished by him.
Back then, she was unwilling to accept his pursuit and deliberately made things difficult for him. She said that if he could buy the red bean cake from the south of the city, she would consider giving
it a try.
It was a long distance from her house to the south of the city, not to mention that it was snowing heavily that day. Even a discerning person could tell that she was deliberately making things
difficult.
But he got in the car without hesitation, spent a full five hours, and presented the still warm mung
bean cake to her from his arms.
Later, Ruth often wondered why, even though their love in the beginning was genuine, he could
change so quickly.
Now thinking about it, he didn’t change.
She just didn’t see it before, didn’t see his wayward nature, didn’t see his true appearance.
No one could make the prodigal son turn back.
Ruth chuckled self–deprecatingly and entered the venue with the invitation card in hand.
All the first items were already on display when Garrett brought Anne in.
The auction and the dinner were held simultaneously, with various exquisite and delicious snacks placed on the table, along with seasonal and plump crabs.
As soon as Anne sat down, she noticed those crabs and immediately pestered Garrett, saying she
wanted to eat them right away.
Garrett chuckled helplessly, tidied up her skirt for her, and politely declined the waiter’s assistance. He delicately picked up the crab crackers and patiently peeled the crab meat and roe, before placing it in front of her on the table.
As she watched his gentlemanly and courteous demeanor, Anne’s eyes were filled with admiration, and stars kept twinkling in them.
Ruth, however, silently watched as she saw Anne, who had finished eating the crab, casually point to the set of emerald jewelry on the table. Garrett then raised his hand and held up the sign.

“On the 17th, the seller offered three hundred million!”
As soon as this price came out, the whole scene was in an uproar, and no one dared to compete. Gasps of astonishment could be heard from all directions.
Soon, the dinner reached the halftime break.
Many people walked to table 17 with their glasses, seemingly wanting to establish a connection.
They watched Garrett dote on Anne in every possible way, and one by one, they started to flatter her, calling her “Madam” and “Lady” incessantly.
Garrett glanced at Ruth and casually reminded her.
“I made a mistake, that person is actually my wife.”
In an instant, the guests who were called wrong showed embarrassed expressions and quickly corrected themselves.
Ruth remained silent and paid no attention to the unexpected and sympathetic glances thrown her
way.
They actually didn’t call it wrong.
Soon, she was no longer Mrs. Todd.
And given Garrett’s level of affection for Anne, it’s possible that as soon as he gets the divorce certificate, he will marry her.
After a brief rest, the second half of the auction featured only antiques.
Ruth was not interested in these, so she casually took a few sets of the most expensive collections and left early.
She had just walked into the elevator when she heard Anne’s sweet voice behind her.
“Madam, may we have a chat?”
Ruth stopped in her tracks, “There’s nothing between you and me…”
She hadn’t finished speaking when she saw Anne raise her hand.
Snap!
The next second, a slap was fiercely slapped on her face.
