Chapter 1
Every time Joseph Davis proposed to me, he would buy me a diamond. It would be set in my wedding dress, he said.
When I got 999 diamonds after six years, I finally agreed to marry him
I thought I had found my Mr. Right, and I was going to have a home.
But when I overheard Joseph’s words, I finally realized how nave I was.
He spoke to his friend in a self–mocking tone, “It’s okay that Abby doesn’t like me. As her brother–in–law, I’ll be able to stay with her and protect her for a lifetime. That would be enough for me.”
His friend sighed.
“You love her indeed. So why are you marrying her sis? Is it because they look alike?”
Joseph shook his head
uing will go
“That’s just one of the reasons. Another reason is that Isa is competitive and ambitious. If I marry her, Abby will no longer be bullied. Everything her way.”
re you won’t regret it?”
His friend was somewhat moved. “You’re sacrificing your marriage for her sake. You sure you won’t regret
“I won’t.” Joseph shook his head firmly.
just make sure you keep it a secret. Don’t let Isa know the real reason why I marry her, or else my six years of effort will be in vain.”
My heart shattered in an instant.
Turned out the only guy who “loved” me was for my sister Abigail’s sake.
Since no one loved me, I’d love myself even more and paper myself li
like I was a princess.
1 bought a rose manor, planning to go abroad after completing the procedures in ten days.
I’d move out and leave Josephi
By then, no matter where he went, he wouldn’t be able to find me.
The agreed time for taking wedding photos had long passed, and Joseph finally arrived.
Sweat beaded on his forehead from all the running
Joseph obediently lowered his head and blinked at me like a po
a puppy, saying, “Isa, help me wipe the sweat off my forehead.”
I froze as I took the deep blue checkered handkerchief he handed me.
It hit me that Abigail also had a handkerchief like this, but it was pink. Apparently, they were a pair.
Just then, I finally realized Joseph’s love for Abigail was so obvious.
They had so many items in pairs.
I used to think it was a coincidence, totally un
unaware that Joseph was secretly expressing his love to her.
A lump formed in my throat, and I let go of my grip on the handkerchief. It got blown away by the wind.
I instinctively shifted my gaze onto Joseph’s face, wanting to see his reaction
He, however, appeared as calm as ever, like it didn’t matter at all.
I got up to chase it, but Joseph stopped me
“Never mind, Isa. We should go take our wedding photos,
“I’ve been waiting for this day for six years. I can’t wait any longer!”
Enodded as a sign of agreement, but I avoided the hand that Joseph reached out to me. However, he didn’t notion.

The special ringtone, of course, meat it was from someone special.
The sound of the photographer saying “Don’t move” echoed throughout the entire church, but Joseph still walked away and answered the phone,
I stared at his slightly impatient figure not far away, expressionless.
Then I walked to the photographer and glanced at the wedding photos that had just been taken.
In the photo, the figure et Joseph was blurry, while I stood quietly by his side.
The photographer sighed regrettolly, “It Mr. Davis hadn’t moved just now, this would have been a perfect one.
“Ms. Hali, is that phone call more important than you?
Tchuckled at myself in a self–deprecating manner.
Of course, Joseph’s true love was more important than me
But I didn’t answer, just shaking my head.
That day, loseph never came back, and he didn’t even tell me he had gone.
After standing in the same spot for an hour, I got burned by the sun. And that was when I finally received a message from Joseph.
“Isa, something urgent came up at the company. So I gotta go. Sorry. Can we take the photos next time?”
I took back my phone and looked up, forcing back my tears.
I thought, “Joseph, there will be no next time.
“That blurry wedding photo is the last gift 1 give you!”
