Chapter 8
The vice principal asked me to think carefully about who I had offended.
I could tell just by using my toes that it must have been that jerk Diego who did this! I was still sitting in the office when the elderly woman came to pick me up with Deshawn and Andres.
They all managed to watch this video before me.
After seeing it, Deshawn wanted to go and settle the score with Diego, but he was stopped by Kate.
Before her retirement, Kate worked at the Social Service Center. She had seen all sorts of trivial matters and she also considered things more thoroughly and carefully.
She showed me two paths that were parallel at the same time.
While going through the legal procedures.
While clarifying the facts, I pressed Diego’s head.
“We should abide by the law and not resort to violence. If he dares to spread rumors, we will take him to court, make him pay for it, and let him go to
- jail.”
“However, the legal process is slow, and by the time the court makes a ruling, your reputation will be completely ruined. In small towns, rumors spread the fastest, especially rumors about women. Therefore, we can’t just rely on the law alone.”
I nodded like a chicken pecking at rice and asked her again, “So what should I do?”
Kate smirked and said, “Is he the only one who knows how to use the internet? We have phones too!”
Diego rented his house through a real estate agency located at the entrance of the community. Deshawn politely chatted and easily managed to find out the neighborhood where Diego currently resides.
When I arrived at the residential area, it was such a coincidence that I happened to run into Diego taking out the trash!
He was obviously guilty and wanted to run as soon as he saw us.
He was immediately stopped by Deshawn.
Deshawn tucked him under his armpit and greeted warmly, “Running away as soon as you see me? Can’t stand me that much?”
Diego pleaded urgently, “No, no, I just had something to attend to.”
Deshawn dragged him like a chick being pulled, all the way to the gazebo in the center of the neighborhood.
In the early evening, many residents came out to walk their dogs, take a stroll, and exercise.
As soon as they noticed something was off over here, even though they didn’t say anything, their eyes had already turned toward this direction.
There were a few people whispering to each other, “Hey, is that girl and those two guys from Morrow High School…”
Then he was quickly reminded by his companions to keep quiet.
But Diego’s eyes rolled, and he shouted, “Help! This woman was playing both sides and even called her lover to beat someone up! Help!” Haha, it turns out that he did post the video!
Upon hearing his shout, more residents gathered around, and even a few specifically came running down from upstairs to watch the commotion.
If I didn’t see it wrong, several windows of the nearby buildings were also pushed open, and a few heads popped out from the windows, watching the
scene.
Seeing so many people coming to watch the excitement, Diego became even more excited. “What is it if a woman lives with two men, if not a whore? And she’s even a teacher, ugh!”
Deshawn was about to throw a punch, but Kate beat him to it.
I saw Kate swing her arm in a circle and then give a slap.

Diego’s face showed a bright red handprint.
I was completely dumbfounded.
What happened to “no hitting, let the law handle it“?
Kate, how could you be so hypocritical?
