Chapter 13
Houston. Melissa suddenly threw her phone against the wall after seeing
the news.
“Amelia… How dare you!”
She clenched her fists tightly, her nails digging into her palms. She could. hardly believe her eyes, Owen actually went to New York to chase after Amelia, and even lost the lawsuit because of it?
She would never allow it!
That afternoon, Melissa secretly contacted several gossip media outlets. and anonymously revealed: “Amy used to climb into Owen’s bed to advance her career. She disappeared for three years because she was no longer of interest, and now she’s making a comeback for revenge!”
As soon as the news broke, the whole internet was in an uproar.
Amy climbed onto the bed!
Amy came back for revenge!
The inside story of Owen and Amy’s marriage!
The topic instantly dominated the hot search list.
Amelia’s law firm’s phone was ringing off the hook, and there were crowds of reporters blocking the entrance, determined to dig up some juicy information.
“Amy, were you really married to Owen by unfair means back then?”
“Are you coming back in such a high–profile way this time to get back at him?”
“Is your marriage with Owen still existent? Will you choose to divorce. him?”
Amelia walked through the crowd expressionless until a reporter sharply asked. “Has Owen never loved you?”
Her footsteps finally came to a halt.
She turned around slowly, looking into the camera, her voice calm but firm: “First of all, all the various rumors online are false. Secondly, my marriage with Owen has ended. Please focus on the case itself, not the gossip.”
After saying that, she left straight away, her back straight like a pine tree.
That evening, Owen saw the trending topic and became angry.
He quickly ran through the names of several opponents in his mind, but those people were not aware of the secrets of his marriage, only…
He dialed Melissa’s number directly and his voice was chillingly cold: “You leaked the information.”
He spoke with certainty, choking back all the prepared words Melissa had ready.
Melissa defensively argued, “I was just stating the facts…..”
“Facts? he sneered. “The fact is, three years ago, I mistook someone for someone else while drunk, and I proposed marriage to compensate. She did nothing wrong from start to finish!”
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, and then Melissa suddenly burst into tears.
“Did you fall in love with her?”
Owen didn’t answer and hung up directly.
He stood in front of the hotel floor–to–ceiling window, looking at the night view of New York, suddenly remembering Amelia’s appearance in court today.
Confident and dazzling.
She was no longer the Amelia who would always wait for him to come home.

I went to the store yesterday and bought After that, I met up with some friends for lunch. We had a great time catching up and reminiscing about old times. Later in the evening, I watched a movie at home before going to bed. It was a relaxing day.
The recent rumors were getting more and more intense. Tony pulled the curtains shut, blocking out the prying eyes from outside. Inside the office, it was quiet, with the faint sound of keyboards tapping.
“These people are really persistent, they would love to shove a camera down your throat.”
“Sorry, my personal life affected the law firm.”
Tony waved his hand at the words and said, “No, it’s me who should thank you for coming back. But, what are you going to do next? It’s not a solution to keep avoiding them.”
Amelia turned her head towards the French window, her sharp gaze seeming to pierce through the thick curtains and land on the reporters below.
“Why did I have to hide?”
The next day, at the New York Convention Center, a crowd of media
swarmed in.
Amelia, dressed in a sharp white suit, stood in front of the podium, her gaze calmly scanning the flashing cameras below. She did not bring a PR team, did not prepare a script in advance, and did not even bring a colleague from the legal department.
In this press conference, she fought only for herself.
“Regarding the recent rumors, I will explain here, her voice was clear and cold. “My marriage with Owen has never been a so–called ‘bed climbing” situation.”
“I was married to Owen for three years, but he did not fulfill the responsibilities of a partner. He was emotionally abusive, ignored me, and even left me on the highway when I was feeling unwell because of his first love, he left me in a restaurant when I couldn’t move due to a burn injury”
This press conference not only invited journalists from major media outlets, but also was broadcast live on the internet simultaneously.
The whole press conference involved a conflict between three people, two of whom were top elite lawyers in the industry, and one was a renowned pianist with a reputation at home and abroad.
The vast amount of information and the complexity of relationships instantly ignited the entire internet.
