After the party ended, the younger crowd went to a nearby spot to continue the night.
It was a members–only lounge with good drinks and privacy.
in the past, Jack never participated in these activities. He would only pick me up after I was done, fulfilling his duty as a boyfriend.
Friends were surprised he came along. Jack didn’t hide it:
“I need to clear my head. He laughed self–deprecatingly, “I feel safer with you guys?
“Where’s your wife?” Frank deliberately provoked him.
“Shut up, how is she my wife?”

Jack took the whiskey the bartender handed him.
“Just thinking about her gives me a headache. And you know she has nothing better to do, always trying to ambush me everywhere…”
Frank gloated:
“That’s her whole job, isn’t it? Her ‘work‘ is to hook you.”
The bar suddenly went quiet for a moment.
Frank turned around – Chloe was standing right behind them.
“You… you’re here…” Frank felt a bit guilty.
But Jack didn’t care if she heard his complaints. He just asked:
“Who let you in?”
The receptionist weakly explained:
“Um, Miss C has a membership card here.””
The people around snickered.
Everyone understood – Jack must have given it to her when things were good between them. Back then, he had gone to great lengths to introduce her to his friends, actively helping her integrate into the circle.
Jack sighed and finally looked directly at Chloe.
“How about this – stop ambushing me. Name your price.”
“Go home now, think carefully about how much money you want, and when you’ve decided, call my lawyer.”
He slapped a business card on the table and pushed it towards her.
He himself was no longer willing to have any contact with her.
Paying to make the problem go away.
But Chloe suddenly burst into tears.
*Jack, please give me a chance to explain. I’m really not as bad as you think…”
By the end, she was choking up.
But Jack was no longer the man who would feel sorry for her.
His patience was wearing thin. He didn’t want to negotiate a second round with her in front of everyone.
“You won’t leave? Fine, explain right here.” Jack’s fingers tapped on the bar, exuding an intimidating aura.
“Can we… can we talk somewhere else?”
“If you want to talk, talk. If not, get lost
Chloe hesitated for a long time, then finally took the plunge;
“Do you remember Rose?”
