Chapter 20

As Mia’s eyes landed on Alex, her heart skipped a beat. He was dressed in a white polo shirt and black pants, his watch and necklace glinting in the moonlight. He exuded wealth and sophistication, and Mia felt a flutter in her chest.

Alex is so effortlessly gorgeous

“Hi,” Alex said, his deep voice sending shivers down her spine as he sat beside her.

“Hi,” Mia replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

It’s quiet for few seconds.

“Thank you,” Mia said, her eyes meeting Alex’s.

Alex’s expression was nonchalant. “I would have done it for anyone, Turner. You ain’t special.”

Oh yup! That’s the Alex she knows

That doesn’t stop the small painful pang in her heart, but she pushed it aside. Alex was just being his usual blunt self. She forced a smile. “I know I’m not special. Still, thank you.”

Alex nodded, his eyes narrowing slightly. “Good. Now come on, I’ll take you home.”

Mia shook her head, her heart still racing from Alex’s earlier comment. “I don’t want to go home at the moment.”

Alex raised an eyebrow, his gaze piercing but he didn’t ask whatever he was thinking “Come on, then.”

Without asking any questions, Mia followed him. As they walked to his car, Mia couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement. Where was he taking her?

Honestly at this moment anywhere but home…

As they drove through the city, Mia’s eyes drifted to Alex’s profile. His jaw was set, his eyes fixed on the road. She felt a flutter in her chest, and suddenly, she was aware of how much she wanted him to kiss her.

God, she was shameless.

“Where are we going?” Mia asked, trying to sound nonchalant, maybe it slow down her heart that was about to pop out of her chest

“Someplace for you to rest,” Alex replied, his voice low and smooth.

Mia nods, not bothering to ask anymore questions.

They arrived at a massive hotel, the sign reading “B-Well Hotel and Suites” in bold letters. Mia’s eyes widened as she stared at the luxurious building.

“It’s a Blackwell Hotel,” Alex said, his voice matter-of-fact. “So what whatever questions you have keep it”

Mia blinks, swallowing her questions.

She felt a surge of intimidation. This was a 5-star hotel, and she was just a…well, she wasn’t sure what she was to Alex.

As they stepped out of the car, Alex nodded towards the entrance. “Come on.”

Mia took a deep breath, her heart racing as she followed Alex into the hotel. The lobby was gorgeous, with marble floors and crystal chandeliers. Mia felt like she was going to stain the floor with her presence.

The receptionist greeted Alex with a warm smile. “Welcome, sir.”

Alex nodded, striding past the reception desk towards the elevator. Mia followed, her eyes fixed on the floor.

The elevator ride was quiet, Alex busy typing away on his phone while Mia stood awkwardly beside him.

As they arrived at their destination, Alex led her down a corridor to a door. He inserted a keycard, and the door swung open.

Mia’s eyes widened as she stepped inside. The room was stunning, with a massive bed and a breathtaking view of the city.

“You can stay here for the night,” Alex said, his voice low and smooth.

Mia’s eyes met his, her heart racing. “Me?”

Alex nodded. “Yes. Dial the phone, and whatever service you need will be taken care of. Order anything you want.”

As Alex turned to leave, Mia felt a pang of desperation. She didn’t want him to go.

“Please stay,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Alex’s eyes locked onto hers, his expression unreadable. Then, his gaze dropped to her hand, which was resting on his arm.

Mia quickly pulled her hand back, feeling a flush rise to her cheeks.

“I uh- sorry” She says scratching the back of her head

“Do you really want me to stay?” Alex asked, his voice low and husky.

Mia nodded, her heart pounding in her chest.

Alex’s eyes seemed to bore into hers, as if searching for something. Then, he nodded, his expression softening a bit.

“Okay,” he said. “I’ll stay.”
