Reagan had never been kind. Since we were kids, she’d done whatever it took to win Maverick over.
She always acted sweet and innocent whenever he was around.
I once saved her life and changed her future. In return, she kept tearing mine apart.
Over and over, she played the same role in front of Maverick.
She pretended to be gentle and harmless while making me out to be cruel and spiteful.
But Maverick never saw through her.
He couldn’t see the truth. Over time, instead of gaining clarity, he only seemed more blind.
“So what if Maverick is blind to reality? Stephanie, I came back to be his wife. I’m not the same weak Reagan you used to know!”
As soon as she finished, she lifted her hand to slap me.
I caught her wrist and struck her across the face first.
“You slapped me?”
Reagan stood frozen, her hand on her cheek, then suddenly started crying.
Tears rolled down as she acted like the perfect drama queen.
“Stephie, please trust me. I didn’t come back to cause trouble. I just wanted to see everyone again. I swear, I won’t get between you and Maverick.”
“What are you doing?”
Before I had time to react, Maverick had already rushed over.
He grabbed Reagan’s hand and gave me a cold look.
“Stephanie! What did you do to Reagan?”
I looked at the two of them and let out a laugh.
“Isn’t it obvious? She tried to hit me, so I defended myself.”
“Hit you? Reagan would never do that! You’ve been picking on her since childhood. Now she’s finally back, and you’re still being cruel. How could you be so heartless?”
To Maverick, I was always the villain. Nothing had changed.
Ibit my lip and stayed quiet as a sudden pain shot through my stomach.
winced, bending over slightly.
Reagan came rushing over. “Are you okay? You look awful.”
She acted concerned but leaned in and whispered, “See? In Maverick’s eyes, I’m the one who matters. I can

see that you’re not feeling well, but if both of us are hurting, guess who he’ll care about more?”
I clutched my stomach, ignoring her words.
Right then, Reagan dropped to the ground. “Ah! It hurts! Maverick, my stomach!”
Her acting was terrible, but I had no energy left to deal with her.
The pain in my abdomen became unbearable. I suddenly felt warmth between my legs.
The heavy scent of blood filled the air. I looked down and saw red spreading fast beneath me.
“Maverick-”

With great effort, I reached out to him, trying to tell him that my stomach hurt and something might be wrong with the baby.
But he didn’t notice me at all. In his panic, he clung to Reagan and asked, “Reagan, where does it hurt? I’ll take you to the hospital now!”
/As he turned to leave with Reagan in his arms, I grabbed onto his sleeve weakly.
“Maverick, my stomach hurts. Can you—”
Before I could finish, he pulled his arm away from me roughly. His tone was annoyed. “Are you seriously trying to outshine Reagan right now? Don’t you see how much she’s suffering?”
His strength was too much for me to handle. I was already hurting, and the way he pushed me made me lose my balance and fall.
Blood quickly soaked the ground, but Maverick walked away with Reagan without even glancing back.
Throughout the whole ordeal, he didn’t spare me a single glance. He never noticed the blood around me.
The sight was terrifying, yet
was terrifying, yet he seemed completely blind to it.
A chill crept through my body, starting from my heart and spreading out. I curled my fingers into fists, my nails digging into my palms.
Spely
Everything hurt. My body ached all over, but my heart felt completely numb.
“Stephie!”
I heard Yrian’s panicked voice near my ear. He froze when he saw the blood and exclaimed, “What happened? Why are you like this? Where did Maverick go?”
“Take me… to the hospital…”
That was all I could manage to say before the pain became too much. I blacked out.
