Chapter 24 You Still Love Maverick, Don’t You?
There was a loud “bang,” and I heard something shatter next to me.
When I turned to look, I was shocked to see that Maverick had crushed the glass in his hand.
The shards were embedded in his flesh, and bright red blood dripped from his palm.
He remained unmoved, his face still expressionless as he stared at Yrian and me.
It was Reagan who was startled. “Maverick, your hand is bleeding. Are you okay?”
Reagan quickly called over a waiter to clean up the mess and brought a first aid kit, carefully tending to Maverick’s wound.
Through it all, Maverick said nothing, his gaze never leaving me.
I felt a chill crawl up my spine under his intense stare and, forcing myself to stay calm, I turned to Reagan. “Ms. Brown, may I ask, could you get Maverick to agree to my request?”
Tonight, my goal was just this one thing. Having come this far, I wasn’t afraid of more embarrassment.
“Fine, whatever.”
Reagan seemed uninterested in arguing with me. She turned to Maverick. “Just agree to her request. I’m happy tonight! As long as she doesn’t bother you anymore, everything is fine!”
The last sentence was crystal clear to me–I wouldn’t have asked Yrian to play along if that wasn’t the case.

I knew that even if I finished those five bottles of whiskey, Reagan would continue to make things difficult for
- me.
The only way she would let me go was if she felt I posed no threat to her
anymore.
“Thank you, Ms. Brown. I wish you and Mr. Stone a happy marriage and a lifetime of love.”
After saying this, I pulled Yrian up from the sofa and walked out of Nightfall Club without looking back.
I barely got outside before I couldn’t hold it and ran to a trash can to vomit violently.
I threw up so hard, it felt like my insides were coming out.
Yrian stood behind me, patiently patting my back.
“If you’re not happy, why say those things against your will? The truth is, you still love Maverick, don’t you?”
He handed me a tissue and opened a bottle of water for me.
After drinking, I felt much better.
“Whether I love him or not doesn’t matter to me anymore,” I said with a faint smile, finally feeling better after throwing up. “Right now, the most important thing in my life isn’t Maverick, but my parents.”
“What did Maverick do to your parents?”
“He’s planning to pull out most of the investment in my dad’s company and cut off some of the long–term

partners. The company means a lot to my dad.”
“How much money are we talking about?”
Yrian frowned, helping me walk to his car.
“Not a lot, just a few million every quarter. But for my family, that’s not a small sum.”
“Go home and get some rest. Tomorrow, everything will be better.”
Yrian took me home, and when we arrived, I noticed my parents were still awake, sitting on the couch waiting for me.
As soon as my mom saw me, she rushed over. “How did it go? Did you talk to Maverick? What did he say? Is he going to continue the investment?”
“Yeah, don’t worry. He agreed.”
After hearing that, both my parents let out a relieved sigh.
Thank goodness, that’s a relief.“.
After reassuring my parents, I finally fell into a deep sleep.
I was exhausted–so much had happened in such a short time, and I was barely holding on.
I slept straight through until the next afternoon, waking up with a pounding headache.
After washing up, I headed downstairs and found that my dad was missing, while my mom was sitting on the couch, her eyes red from crying.
“What’s wrong, Mom?”
I walked over and saw that her eyes were swollen from crying.
She shook her head when she saw me, trying to hold back, but I gently forced her to tell me.
“Stephie, what did you say to Maverick when you went to see him yesterday? How could he not only refuse to continue the investment but also say that your dad’s company has issues? Early this morning, the police came and took your dad away for investigation!”
“What?”
It hit me like a bolt out of the blue, I stood still in place, motionless for a long time.
“It’s impossible. Maverick promised me!”
I clenched my fists at my sides, never expecting that Maverick would lie to me!
“Mom, wait here. I won’t let anything happen to Dad!”
