Chapter 22 As Long as You Drink It
“Is this real?”
Reagan was used to seeing valuable things and could easily tell if the bracelet was fake.
But a million–dollar bracelet? She probably hadn’t seen one before.
Maverick had given her plenty of gifts, but they were all small items.
“Are you really giving this to me?”

“Yeah, this was actually a gift from Maverick’s dad to me. Now I’m giving it to you. Since you’re going to be Mrs. Stone sooner or later, I’m just returning it to its rightful owner.”
Hearing this, the people around her immediately began to congratulate her.
“Really, Reagan? You’re really going to marry Mr. Stone?”
“Congrats! The day you’ve waited finally come!”
“They’ve been saying all these years that Mr. Stone has always loved you. Turns out it’s true!”
Amidst the congratulations, Reagan started to lose herself. After putting on the bracelet, she floated off with a smile, “Thank you all! When Maverick and I get married, I’ll invite you all to the wedding.”
“Ms. Brown, are you happy now?”
I quickly followed up, thinking she should be very happy at this moment.
“Well, I am happy, but if I could be even happier, that would be even better.”
Reagan glanced at me. Though she didn’t understand why my attitude had suddenly changed so much today, she still invited me to join her for a drink.
“Since you’re here, you might as well sit with us.”
She led me to sit next to Maverick. As soon as we were seated, I eagerly handed her a glass of wine. “Ms. Brown, happy birthday. I’d like to toast to you.”
I tilted my head back and finished my drink, then handed her another glass. “Ms. Brown, if you’re happy, you could share your feelings with Mr. Stone.”
“What’s there to share?”
Reagan leaned against Maverick, smiling. “But still, thank you, Maverick. I’m really happy tonight.”
“Is it because of me, or because of her?”
Maverick pointed at me, and Reagan looked confused. “What does she have to do with it?”
“Nothing. It’s just that Stephanie asked me for something, and I told her that as long as you’re happy, I’d agree to anything. Tonight is your birthday, so you’re the most important tonight. Everything is up to you!
Maverick turned and gently lifted Reagan’s chin with his hand.

The intimate gesture between them stirred the room.
My heart tightened, and I glanced toward the door, hoping Yrian would arrive soon.
I just wanted this to end and leave.

“You want to make me happy? Fine! It’s my birthday today, Stephanie, you’d better drink a few more.”
Reagan stood up from Maverick’s arms, signaling the bartender to bring over several bottles of whiskey. Each one was opened and handed to me.
“I don’t know what you asked Maverick for, but since he said that as long as I’m happy tonight, everything will be easy, I won’t make things difficult. Drink these five bottles of whiskey, and I’ll make sure Maverick agrees to your request.”
My stomach was weak, and I just had a miscarriage.
If I finished these drinks, my body might not handle it.
“Does that mean as long as I finish them, anything’s okay?”
“As long as you drink them, anything’s okay.”
Reagan was waiting to watch the dráma unfold, so I slowly reached out and picked up one of the bottles.
Before drinking, I glanced at Maverick.
His gaze was cold, and his face showed no emotion.
He knew I just had surgery, and he knew my stomach was hurting. He knew I shouldn’t be drinking right now, but he didn’t stop me.
I knew everything he was doing today was to get ba
at me, to make me feel humiliated.
But if this was what Maverick wanted, then I would do as he wished.
I closed my eyes and poured the whiskey into my mouth.
The strong burn of the alcohol hit me, and I felt nauseous, but I still managed to finish the first bottle.
By the time I finished, my mind was already starting to blur.
I wasn’t a good drinker–one bottle of whiskey was already my limit!
But there were still four bottles left. For my dad’s company, I had no choice but to keep going.
