After a while, the anxious voice of the nurse came, “Her husband’s phone was not answered, and he didn’t reply to the messages, What should we do, doctor?”
Evelyn, with a nasal cannula inserted in her nose, trembled as she reached out her hand and said, “Give it to me.”
She felt waves of darkness in front of her eyes, so she decided to close her eyes and wait.
The phone rang again and again, but no one answered.
She numbly persisted in hitting over and over again.
Finally, it was connected.
Evelyn tried her best to speak, but on the other end of the phone, Martin’s voice cane coldly, “Still busy.”
The next second, the phone hung up.
Chapter 10
From hope to despair.
Evelyn’s heart instantly plummeted to the bottom.
In an instant, her face turned paler, filled with lifelessness.
Big drops of tears flowed down.
The surrounding nurses couldn’t bear it in their hearts, their eyes filled with sympathy. “What should we do, doctor?
The doctor sighed deeply and said, “Take them to the operating room, I’ll take care of everything.”
The cold operating table almost froze Evelyn’s blood.
The bone–chilling cold enveloped her entire body, and she wanted to hold herself, but she was already unable to move, only able to let the temperature slowly dissipate.
Life slipped away little by little, and consciousness grew increasingly hazy.
The memories of two lifetimes intertwined and resurfaced, as if she had returned to the first time she met Martin..
In her senior year of high school, she was almost forced by her mother to get married. Martin was like a beam of light that shone into her oppressive world
He said, “In the future, I will support you, and your life should be in your own hands.”
He used to be her light
But he himself extinguished this light.
Vaguely, Evelyn seemed to hear a child’s cry, “Mom Mom…!
Tears kept flowing from the corner of Evelyn’s eyes.
She wanted to live.
She had just started a new life, her child had not been born yet, and she wanted to take control of her own life.
She was unwilling to die…
Oh God, save
The cracked lips silently whispered prayers, while her consciousness slowly sank into the endless abyss.
“Attention, passengers heading to Coralia, your flight is about to depart. Please turn off all electronic devices…”
Martin hung up the phone on Evelyn,
Isabel apologized, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have missed Ms. Gomez’s call…”
