The False Accusation by the
Adopted Daughter
Chapter 1
After being reborn, I wasted no time whisking
my parents away on a trip, leaving my wicked
stepsister to rot at home.
Last time, she threw a wild party that ended
with my mom burning to death in a raging
fire.
And what did she do? She turned on me,
sobbing to my dad, “Lindsey said she wanted
to light fireworks inside! I tried to stop her,
but…Mom was trapped! It’s all my fault!”
I tried to explain, but my boyfriend at the time
jumped in to sink me.
“I saw her buying those fireworks myself!
Don’t even try to deny it!” he sneered.
My dad, blinded by grief and rage, threw me
in jail. I withered away and died behind bars.
Only after my death did I discover the truth:
<
my boyfriend and stepsister were in cahoots.
They set the fire to kill me and steal my
inheritance.
Now I’m back, staring at the morning before
that awful day.
- 1.
My phone rang, jarring me back to reality.
Seeing Lindsey’s name flash across the
screen made my stomach churn. I picked up
anyway.
“Linny here! Hey sis,” Lindsey’s voice chirped
from the other end. “I’m thinking of throwing
a little party at the house, but you know how
uptight Mom and Dad get about messes…”
Before I could even say a word, she
steamrolled on, “And I really wanna get some
fireworks! Could you grab some for me?
Don’t tell Mom and Dad, okay?”
“You’re the best, Lindsay. You always take
care of me. You’d do anything for me!”
<
“It’s no big deal, right?”
“Oh! And you should totally come to the party
tonight. It’ll be fun! You deserve a break from
work.”
She gushed and pleaded, not giving me a
chance to respond before hanging up with a
breezy, “Love you!”
A wave of nausea washed over me as I stared
at my reflection, my forehead beaded with
sweat.
I was really back. This was it.
