I slunk away, heading home.
Just as I managed to stop the bleeding and clean up my face, the cemetery called.
“Miss Knight, there’s been a slight problem
with the plot you reserved.”
“Someone else also reserved it.”
“Could you… come down and sort it out?”
<
I was stunned.
I’d paid a fortune for that plot, specifically
because it had good feng shui and was right next to my grandma’s grave.
Now someone else wanted it?
I dug out the contract, read it over and over.
Black and white, it was mine.
But the cemetery wouldn’t call about something like this unless it was serious.
I had to check it out.
<
When I got there, I was floored.
Standing in front of the plot, dressed casually
but with a thunderous look on his face, was
Connor Davies.
A wave of shame washed over me.
I took a step back.
“Miss Knight, Detective Davies is here too.
Figured we could settle this once and for all,
okay?”
I swallowed hard and nodded.
My grandma’s grave was right there.
く
No way I was backing down.
I pulled out the transfer agreement.
“I got this place from a woman I was friends
with in the hospital. It’s all in the system. You
can check.”
I got the plot from someone I was friends with in the hospital.
She wanted to sell it to me before she moved abroad for surgery.
