Chapter 25
“Fred, you came back to town and didn’t even bother to let me know! We could’ve thrown you a big welcome–back bash” Kemp’s voice had that annoying edge that grated on everyone’s nerves.
Fred stayed icy, his tone cold as he replied, “Don’t bother, Mr. Moss. We’re not that close.”
“Come on, that’s no way to talk. Kemp drawled lazily, throwing an arm around the woman next to him, completely ignoring how uncomfortable she looked from the weight of his elbow digging into her.
“Mr. Salazar, always the classy one, huh? Women Sock to you like moths to a flame. Remember when Tina turned me down just to chase after you? That just shows your charm, right? I mean, we’re practically brothers?”
Fred’s frown deepened as he shot back. “Mr. Moss, watch your mouth. My relationship with Tina is nothing like you’re implying, and I sure as hell wouldn’t call us brothers. As for her rejecting you! Maybe you should take a good look in the mirror!
He east a glance at the smoldering wreck of a Lamborghini in front of them. “If this is how you act, Mr. Moss, I wouldn’t be shocked if you end up alone”
Kemp’s face darkened, and his eyes gleamed dangerously “You always like playing the hero, huh? How about we settle this on the track?”
Before Fred could even respond, Trina suddenly spoke up. “Settle it how?”
Fred blinked, caught off guard. “What”
Kemp’s eyes lit up when he noticed Trina, a smirk curling on his lips “Well, well, look who we’ve got here. A real beauty. Why don’t you ditch Fred and come with me? I guarantee I can give you more than he ever could.”
“You fucking bastard…” Fred, who rarely lost his cool, was visibly pissed off now.
Trina put a hand on Fred’s arm, calming him down, then looked Kemp dead in the eye. “It’s simple. If you beat me, then we’ll talk
Kemp raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. “Damn! Never seen a girl so direct. He grinned. “So, you race too??
“Something like that, Trina replied coolly.
Kemp scoffed. “You might want to rethink that sweetheart. This isn’t some kiddie game. One wrong move, he pointed to the wrecked car behind him, and someone could end up dead”
Trina smiled, unfazed. “Racing is all about the adrenaline rush. Life and death? That’s up to face”
“Well, damn Kemp clapped his hands, clearly impressed. “I like your style” Then he shouted over his shoulder, “Somebody get this lady a cart” “No need. Triax said, her eyes fixed on the trashed Lamborghini, “Just get me one with the same specs as that,”
Fred, who didn’t know much about racing could feel something was off and knew he had to stop her.
But Ivory and her companion, who understood the gravity of the situation, anxiously warned, “Miss, are you sure? Maybe you should reconsider the setup
The Lamborghini, with its short spoiler, was clearly modified wrong At high speeds, it could cause turbulence and flip the car.
Kemp kicked Ivory. “Who asked for your opinion! Who do you think you are?”
Ivory stumbled back several steps, clutching her stomach and doubling over in pain, as her companion quickly moved to support her.
Kemp’s mood shifted in an instant. He turned to Trina with a sly grin and said, “This race isn’t for amateurs. Since you’ve agreed to go up against me, let’s make it more…. entertaining.”
Fred couldn’t hold back any longer. He stepped in and said sharply, “Trins, you can’t go!” He shot a glare at Kemp, “If it’s a race you want, then race me. And if I lose, name your price,”
Kemp raised an eyebrow, tossing his car keys in the air with an arrogant smirk. “Hat it was this young lady who made the promise, he replied srqugly. “Backing out now! What, scared of losing
Trina scoffed and stepped forward, positioning herself between Freil and Kemp. “Fine. Let’s hear it. How exactly do you plan to make this interesting”
Kemp’s grin widened. “Ah, now we’re talking. So your name’s Trina, huh? Let’s keep it simple–I won’t make this too tough on you. If you win, you set the terms. But if I win. He let the words hang in the air before adding with a smirk, “You spend ten nights with me, doing whatever I want”
Chapter 25
Fred exploded, “What the hell, Kemp! That’s beyond sick!”
But at the exact same moment, Trina calmly said, “Deal”
Fred whipped around to face her, stunned. Trina, are you out of your damn mind? You’re still-
“It’s fine.” she cut him off. I know what I’m doing”
Kemp’s sidekick tossed Trina the car keys, and the group began making their way to the starting line.
But Trina suddenly stopped and turned back to Ivory. She crouched down and whispered gently, “Thanks for the heads–up. miss. Don’t worry–11 make sure he pays for that kick“:
She gave Ivory a reassuring pat on the head before heading back toward the mare.
The commotion finally caught Cyril’s attention
He had been waiting in his car for Fred’s arrival, deliberately avoiding the noise outside. But as he caught sight of the familiar figure, his eyes narrowed in recognition. He bolted from the car, slamming the door so hard it made Lisa, who was following behind, jump
“Trina!” Cyril called out sharply.
Lisa, seeing who had gotten Cyril so worked up, exclaimed in surprise, “Trina? Why is she everywhere!!”
But Cyril was too focused on Trina to care what Lisa thought. He stormed up to her and grabbed her arm. “What the hell are you doing here? Where do you think you’re going!”
Trina shook off his grip, taking a step back. “None of your business. Get lost.”
Cyril grabbed her arm again, frowning. “Not until you explain yourself” The sight of Trina standing near Kemp sent a cold chill down Cyril’s spine.
As if on cue, Kemp’s mocking voice cut through the tension. “Well, well, isn’t this a surprise? Mr. Banks himself is here to watch the race. What’s the
Cyril barely comaining his rage, shot back icly. This has nothing to do with you just tell me, what do you plan to do with her?”
Kemp gave a lazy smirk, his gaze flicking between Trina, Fred, and finally Cyril. “Looks like we’ve got quite the audience. This is getting fun. Why don’t you join in! The more, the merrier?
Then he turned to Trina, grinning like a
a Cheshire cat. “Remember our little bet. Trina, If I win-
“I haven’t forgotten,” Trina cut him off coldly. “Just don’t say I didn’t warn you when you regret it”
She turned back to Cyril, her tone icy. “Let go of me Whatever I do is none of your business.” Then, turning to Lisa, she added with a smirk, “Maybe you should drag your man away before he embarrasses himself trying to babysit me”
Lisa, who had been all ready to mock Trina, suddenly felt elated hearing her refer to Cyril as her man.” The last thing she wanted was to ruin this
moment.
So, she softened and said, “Cyril, there’s no need to freak out If Trina agrees, she must know what she’s doing. No point in making a scene.
