Trina rolled her eyes at the nonsense she overheard, silently cursing how many idiots seemed to be walking around these days. No matter how big the scandal, as long as someone’s good–looking, there would always be a pack of fans trailing behind them like lost puppies.
Ivory Craig, the girl with the ridiculous hairstyle, chimed in. “Too bad he already has a girlfriend he actually cares about. What’s the point in even seeing him today!”

The girl next to Ivory’s face darkened, and she snapped, “It’s just so damn frustrating. What’s so special about Lisa anyway? How him! She snatched up every opportunity for herself. Honestly, she’s worse than his ex–wife”

Trina fel a physical sense of revulsion like she needed to plug her ears, Just bearing Chris’s name made her stomach turn
At the mention of him, the two girls fell silent, their eyes practically sparkling as they reminisced about Chris’s glory days

Exactly. He had that insane technique of accelerating through turns instead of slowing down. I bet he knew he could pull it off too. I’ve never seen anyone else dare to race like that, another replied.
“They’ve chopped up his races into highlight reels online. Whenever racing is mentioned, people throw up his videos just to get clicks, Ivory said.
“Well, he really did have the skills, the other girl replied, a hint of regret in her voice. “Too bad he only raced a few times before he quit. If he kept going he’d be a damn legend by now”
Ivory puffed up with pride over her idol. “So what Even though he doesn’t race anymore, his legend still lives on in the community. That’s what makes him so incredible–be’s untouchable.”
Just as they were gushing over Chris, a sharp voice cut through the conversation. “Untouchable, hah” He vanished off the face of the earth. If he was really that good, why’d he disappear after just a few races! He was all show, no substance”
Trina perked up, cunous to see who was talking shit. When she turned and saw who it was, she couldn’t help but laugh at the irony

Trina and Fred were standing at the back, mostly hidden by the crowd, so neither Lisa nor Cyril had noticed them yet

Cyril, as usual, said nothing in response to Lisa’s behavior. If it weren’t for the fact that Fred was attending this event, he wouldn’t have bothered showing up at all.
Rumor had it that in recent years, Fred had taken charge of the family’s overseas operations, and upon his return, his first move had been to butt heads with the Banks family

The other girl stared at Cyril for a moment, practically entranced, before snapping back to reality and joining in “Seriously, you have no shame, do you? Having the nerve to show your face after such a huge scandal breaks out–I’m actually impressed by how cheeky you must bel”
