The slap mark on his face was too obvious, and Raymond felt embarrassed. It took some time to persuade his mother to allow him to take two days off from school.
On his way home with the medicine, he spotted two plainly dressed individuals peering into his house.

Steve had paid for a background check on the Sylvester family when he arrived. He immediately recognized Raymond and flashed a flattering smile.
“Hello, we are Roseanne’s foster parents. We came all the way from the countryside to see our daughter.”
Steve knew how much the Sylvester family valued Aurora, so he used Roseanne as a cover.
They were here to ask for money in private, and the Sylvester family should never know about this matter.
Meghan chimed in, “We just want to take a quick look at her. It won’t stay long, and we won’t disturb Sevina’s life.”
Raymond had just learned Roseanne’s previous name and thought it was too simple. He frowned slightly. “Is her full name Sevina Yates? How do you spell it?”
