Chapter 14 Target Of Scammers
Chapter 14 Target Of Scammers
“Seven years ago, there was a bald department head in Longberg who was corrupt and abused his power. His unauthorized construction of a factory led to a massive fire, causing devastation and death ameng many workers But that wasn’t all. He pocketed the compensation money, amassing a fortune of four hundred and eighty million, and managed to elude capture for over a year. When they found him, he was hanging lifelessly. But the truth is, it wasn’t a suicide I was the one who killed
Her voice was nonchalant, a blend of cool detachment and languid indifference.
There was no discernible emotion toward this individual in the tone of her voice.
The taxi driver didn’t believe she had committed murder, but he was even more convinced that she was a scammer.
In order to successfully reach the police station without her suspecting anything, he purposefully asked, “So tell me, how did you kill Гласса”
She replied, “It’s a secret. I can’t tell.”
“Why did you kill him then? Was it to act as an agent of justice?”
Roseanne nodded. “I suppose sol I didn’t even take any money. It was all free of charge.”
“You’re still thinking of getting paid:”
“How am I going to survive if I don’t charge money?”
The driver snorted dismissively. “How old were you seven years ago? I don’t believe it. If you’re so capable, why don’t you wipe out all these scammers”
“It’s impossible to eliminate them all, but they can be captured,”
He continued to ask, “So, how much do you charge?”
With a slight smile, Roseanne responded, “Depends on my mood”
So, you’re really a scammer, aren’t
you? Are you going to say that we need to pay you before we can retrieve our money? Ha!
“I’ll take the money, but not from you. It’s those who spread rumors about me that should pay.”
When she spoke these words, a chill descended in her eyes.
The driver was taken aback by the icy tone of her voice. He floored the accelerator, finally arriving at the police station.
In a rush, he quickly got out of the car, securely locking it behind him. He sprinted toward the police station, shouting desperately, “Officer, I need help?”
After a brief wait, Roseanne saw several police officers quickly emerge
The car door swung open, and she extended both her hands. “Are you going to handcuff me?”
The police officers fell silent for a moment, then said, “We don’t have any evidence yet. You need to come with us for now
The taxi driver was seated, nervously jiggling his leg. Upon seeing Roseanne enter, he became visibly agitated: “It’s her,” he exclaimed, “She confessed to having killed someone. She even claimed that the man, Lucca, who hung himself seven year ago, was her victim.
Upon seeing Roseanne’s ID card, the police officer glanced at the elderly driver. “Seven years ago, she was just a fifteen–year old girl. How could such a young girl commit murder and get away unscathed, let alone recover the fund?”
The driver war choked up
Roseanne said. “This person called the police on me for no reason, accusing me of fraud. I want to sue him for spreading

false rumors and tarnishing my reputation.”
The driver’s eyes widened in disbelief. “You’re twisting the truth!”
She gave a cool glance. “May I ask why do you think I’m a fraudster? Did I swindle you out of your money?”
In the end, under the pressure of police interrogation, the driver reluctantly handed over his phone.

It turned out he had joined a chat group. The people in it were either victims of a fraud case from two years ago or their relatives and friends..
A person who went by the nickname “The Righteous” took a photo of Roseanne at Triumpus Advocates and shared it in the group chat
He recounted the entire story of how she had invested five hundred million two years ago and how she was now extorting her husband for one point five billion.
The group was filled with righteous indignation, continuously hurling criticisms at her.
The police captain rubbed his forehead, his stern gaze fixed on the driver. “Just because others label her a scammer, does that make it so? Without evidence, it’s nothing but rumor.”
As the story unfolded, it became apparent that The Righteous was continuously stirring up public sentiment. He claimed to be working in a law firm, knowing Roseanne and promised to help everyone recover their money.
He subtly hinted at his own financial difficulties, unable to make ends meet.
Some doubted him, but he didn’t get angry. With a well–crafted explanation, he cleared himself of all suspicions, clarifying that he wouldn’t accept any money and was merely offering help free of charge. He was just venting a bit in the group chat.
Upon checking the social feed, all the posts and photos were related to the law, even including pictures of Triumpus Advocates.
“Look into this person. They might be part of the scammers we’ve been tracking”
The driver hesitated for a moment before countering. “He’s a good guy. He even refused to accept money transfers from people in the group chat.”
Roseanne retorted. “How are you so sure that no one has made private transfers?”
The driver was taken aback by the question, his face flushing red as he found himself at a loss for words.
“The person had just joined the group before they posted a photo,” the police captain said with a grave expression. “Ms. Roseanne, it seems you’ve drawn some unwanted attention. You’re suing your husband, and if you won and regained your shares, it would be worth one point five billion Azanian currency. If I were a scammer, you would be my only target. Don’t bother about those small fries.”
One point five billion Azanian currency!
The moment the police captain’s words fell silent, all eyes in the station turned to Roseanne,
Astonishment, eagerness, jealousy, admiration, suspicion… All sorts of emotions were blatantly directed at her. Yet, she alone sat there, calm and composed.
The driver was summoned to the office. He was lectured for quite some time, but he stubbornly clung to his own version of the truth. He was convinced that Roseanne was a scammer and caused a commotion because the police didn’t arrest her.
It wasn’t until the police arrived with handcuffs that he finally calmed down. He shot Roseanne a fierce glare before departing
In this world, there had always been a type of person who, even when everyone told them they were wrong, stubbornly stuck to their beliefs.
It was clear that words were getting them nowhere, so the police had no choice but to treat him as a person of significant

The captain looked at Roseanne solemnly, “From now on, you need to be wary of anyone who approaches you, regardless of their gender or age. They might all be out to deceive you.”
Roseanne responded, “All right
“Don’t take it lightly. It’s crucial for you to be careful.”
“I understand.”
The captain wore a look of skepticism. “Let’s exchange contact information! If you have any suspects in the future, make sure
to inform us first.
Roseanne was taken aback.
The identity of The Righteous was discovered, and it was verified that the person was an elderly person.
The WhatsApp account was either stolen or purchased with money.
The police would then proceed with their investigation based on this lead.
Roseanne added the captain’s contact information and headed straight to the sales department.
As she was nearing her destination, she received a message from Jeffrey: Ms. Roseanne, this is the drafted legal document.
Roseanne opened it and took a look, then replied: No problem. I’ll come to sign it tomorrow.
Upon arriving at the sales office, the receptionist greeted her warmly, “Welcome, ma’am. Are you here to view the properties?”
Roseanne slipped her phone into her pocket, responding, “Yes. Does Royale Villa have a model layout?”
The lady in formal attire flashed a smile. “Certainly. Please follow me.”
Meanwhile, a curly–haired girl affectionately linked arms with her best friend, a blissful expression on her face. “Aury, you have such good taste. Help us choose a house, too.”
With a forced smile, Aurora responded, her expression slightly stiff, “All right.”
In the fleeting moment when she lifted her gaze, her eyes met with the young man standing next to the girl with the curled hair.
The other party gave her a wink, deliberately oozing with charm.
With a sense of revulsion, Aurora deliberately averted her gaze, doing her best to ignore the intermittent glances that kept. landing on her.
“Hey! Is that Roseanne?”
