“I need to take charge of my life.” Daphne gently touched her belly, her eyes warm with tenderness. She was determined to stop relying on others and to become strong and independent—not just for herself, but to protect the precious life growing inside her.
Matthew smiled, his eyes shining with pride as he looked at Daphne. “That’s great. You deserve to be my granddaughter.”
He then turned to Philip, who was enjoying an ice cream cone by the gazebo, and asked, “Has the Vice President of Galaxy Entertainment found the right person yet?”

From the day Daphne got married, Matthew had often looked worried, fretting that she might be mistreated. He wanted to support her with Sheppard Group, but she refused. She wanted to win Yancey’s love through her own efforts, not by relying on her family’s connections.
Before Yolanda passed away during childbirth, she had warned Matthew. She suspected Mason was cheating and was secretly undermining her authority in their company.
She feared that if Mason discovered she was the daughter of the Sheppard family, he would absolutely use his role as Daphne’s father to fight for custody.
To protect Daphne and the future of the Sheppard family, Yolanda instructed Matthew to keep Daphne’s identity a secret.
Yolanda had planned to gather evidence of Mason’s infidelity and tile for divorce, but tragically, she died before she could collect anything.
To this day, only the Sheppard family knew Daphne’s true identity, even Mason believed that Yolanda’s family was just an average one.
Philip asked Daphne. “Are you sure you don’t want to reveal your identity to the public?
Now that she had grown up and her marriage with Yancey had ended, it didn’t really matter if her identity got out.
“No rush,” Daphne shook her head. The best part was yet to comme

Hannah noticed Yancey’s mood shift and followed his gaze, taking in Daphne’s light–colored mermaid gown and the diamond and emerald necklace around her neck. With her vibrant red lips and flawless makeup, Daphne looked stunning, making the other women in the room envious.
“No wonder she was the talk of the city. She’s way more impressive than that illegitimate daughter, someone whispered.
Another one chimed in. “Seriously, what was Mr. Goodman thinking? Why would he choose to be with an illegitimate child over a respectable young lady?”
The gossip stung Hannah’s cars. She clenched her fists, glaring at the glamorous Daphne, consumed by a burning desire to tear her down.
Not far away, Chester noticed every man in the room eyeing Daphne’s bare shoulders and frowned. “I told you not to wear this dress. Those looks are so sleazy.”
Before Daphne could respond, she felt a jacket draped over her shoulders–it was Chester’s. She thought to herself helplessly, ‘Chester really is a
square.
Not far away, Yancey watched the cozy scene, and a wave of inexplicable anger surged inside him.
“Daphne changed her partner again! Yancey, you might want to remind her,” Hannah said cautiously, catching Yancey’s tense expression. “After all, she’s still officially your wife, and being close to another man in public is pretty disrespectful.”
Being shamed like that would make any man furious. Yancey’s gaze turned icy as he looked at Daphne. He paused for a moment, then marched over, pulling her close to him.
“Yancey, are you out of your mind?” Daphne staggered, instinctively reaching to steady her abdomen.
Chester stepped in front of Daphne, sizing up Yancey with a cold look. “You’re Yancey”
Yancey ignored him, his jaw clenched as he glared at Daphne. “Are you really that desperate? Can’t you go a single moment without a guy?” ‘One man in the morning, another at night–she’s switching men faster than she changes clothes, Yancey thought, seething with anger.
His words cut deep. Daphne frowned and snapped back, “Watch your language. If you’re not feeling well, go take some medicine “Daphne, don’t get upset, Hannah jumped in right on cue. “You and Yancey aren’t officially divorced yet. Being so obvious with another man isn’t good for either of your reputations. Yancey just got a little worried and spoke without thinking–don’t hold it against him.”
Instantly, the party hall erupted into murmurs. People leaned in to whisper to each other, their eyes lit up with excitement over the juicy gossip about the divorce.
