“Sir, what happened?” Jim entered the car and sat down, his expression shifting to surprise as he took in the scene.
“She seems to have fainted, Shane responded, his features tightening slightly. “Is everything outside under control?”
“Yes, they’re just some debt collectors. It appears she has quite a complicated background,” Jim remarked as he started the car, his voice lowering “What should we do with her now?”
Shane took a moment to decide after ensuring that the woman’s breathing
s stable.
“Let’s head back kto Oaklands Residence. Call Leon and ask him to come over quickly,” he directed firmly.
A ten–minute drive later, they arrived at a grand villa tucked away in a serene, verdant corner of northern Kordale.
Oaklands Residence was a private haven nestled against the mountains and surrounded by green trees beside the water.
Shane exited the car, carefully lifted Celia in his arms after some hesitation, and walked towards the villa’s gate.
The sight of Shane bringing home a woman at such a late hour shocked Alfred and Ms. Long, who were on duty.
Jim motioned for them to hold their questions and led Ms. Long upstairs.
Maintaining his composure. Shane carried Celia to a g
guest room on the second floor.
Shortly after, Leon arrived, his presence bringing an air of urgency.
“Why did you call me here so urgently, Shane? What happened?” Leon asked as he walked into the room.
Upon noticing the woman on the bed, Leon looked at Shane in disbelief.
Given his mild obsessive–compulsive disorder related to cleanliness and his usual aversion to close interactions with women, Leon was visibly shocked by the situation.
Shane spoke in a subdued tone, “She seems to have lost consciousness. Can you check on her?”
What! Lost consciousness? Why didn’t you tell me earlier?
His doctor’s instincts made him inexplicably nervous, so Leon immediately stepped forward and carefully examined the
situation.
“She’s breathing steadily, so she’s fine.
“However, she’s weak and might have a cold and a slight fever,” he diagnosed.
Observing Celia, Shane’s gaze was filled with a mix of concern and suspicion.
Leon took a white pill from the medicine box, and with Ms. Long’s help, he had Celia swallow it
“Shane, her clothes are almost completely soaked, so she needs a dry set to change into. Otherwise, her fever might get
worse.”
Dry clothes? How would there be women’s clothes here?
Shane frowned slightly and reluctantly instructed Ms. Long to find some clothes to help her change.
As they exited the room, Leon trailed behind Shane, following him to his study.
“Shane, be honest with me. Who’s she?”
As the door clicked shut, a faint smile tugged at the corners of Leon’s lips as he began to scrutinise his good friend
Shane responded calmly, “No one. I saved her coincidentally. After that, he sat down on his chair behind his desk.

“Impossible! I know your personality better than anyone. If she’s no one, why would you bring her here?
“And did you carry her in when she fainted? You have OCD, so how could you carry a woman you don’t know?”
Taking quick strides to the chair opposite him, Leon sat down, his gaze piercing as he fixed it on Shane.
A sudden realisation dawned on Shane as well.

on as one might expect
When he had carried her in earlier, there had been only a moment of hesitation, not a strong aversion from someone with OCD
Though a ripple stirred within him, Shane’s expression remained as composed as ever. “I just felt like she resembled someone I’ve been searching for.”
This statement only heightened Leon’s curiosity, his eyes gleaming brightly behind his glasses.
“Someone you’re searching for! What kind of person are you looking for? A woman too!”
“Leon, you’re asking too many questions!” Shane’s gaze darkened slightly, emitting a cold aura that seemed to fill the room
Leon shuddered.
His friend was remarkable in many aspects, possessing exceptional abilities and a strong sense of justice, but he had one flaw -he was reserved and always kept his thoughts concealed deep within.
“Fine, I won’t ask anymore. However, I believe you’ll tell me yourself someday.” Leon raised an eyebrow, quickly adding a smile to his expression.
At that moment, Jim knocked on the door, announcing that the young lady they had rescued was awake.
Both men stood up promptly and made their way to the guest room.
Upon entering, they saw Celia reclining on the bed, her exquisitely beautiful face casting a radiant glow in the room. However, her complexion remained pale, devoid of any colour.
Upon seeing Shane, she made an effort to sit up, a faint smile gracing her lips. “Mr. Channing, thank you for saving me!”
Earlier, she had learned from Ms. Long that the man who saved her was sumamed Channing.
Shane regarded her with a profound gaze, nodding slightly in acknowledgment, but did not say anything
At this moment, Leon took out a thermometer from the first aid kit, smiling as he handed it to her. “May I take your temperature?”
Celia hesitated for a moment, unsure about the man in front of her. Should she take it or not?
“Miss, this is Dr. Gomez. It was he who gave you a pill earlier that allowed you to regain consciousness”
“Thank you, Dr. Gomez, Celia replied weakly.
Accepting the thermometer, a faint blush appeared on her fair face.
It was springtime, and Ms. Long had just provided her with loose clothing to wear.
How could she measure her temperature under the gaze of two men?
It seemed that the two men sensed her predicament, and both turned away simultaneously.
After placing the thermometer, Shane instructed Ms. Long to prepare a meal downstairs.
At this moment, Shane glanced meaningfully at Shane beside him. After that, he turned to Celia and asked. “Miss, we’ve saved you, but we don’t know your name. How should we address you?”
“Thank you
ou once again for saving me. My name is Celia Durban,” she replied with a gentle smile and an open and sincere expression.

Leon nodded, his eyes drifting towards Shane as if his words were aimed directly at him.
Nevertheless, Shane remained composed, showing no hint of emotion.
Three minutes later, Celia quickly glanced at the thermometer.
*375 degrees. Thankfully, it’s just a slight fever.” Leon read the thermometer, his brow furrowing slightly. “Ms. Durban, you seem a bit fragile, so you should rest more, watch your diet, and avoid overexertion
Before leaving. Leon left some medication for Celia to take three times a day.
After Leon left. Shane called Jim into the study.
“Look into Celia Durban.”
After ensuring that the woman’s breathing was stable, Shane took a moment to decide.
