Chapter 30 Making an Offer
Chapter 30 Making an Offer
“There’s no need. You’ve worked all day. We better meet tomorrow night.” Alana said gently
With everyone feeling exhausted, it’s best to call it an early night.
Hearing Alana’s suggestion, Felicia decided not to push the matter further.

After the two returned, the four of them ate dinner peacefully in the dining room, acting as if nothing had happened.
Later, after dinner, Alana retreated to her room while the three children gathered once again
Rowan filled them in on the day’s events, leaving out his private conversation with Alana
Rowan kept some information to himself, feeling he could handle it alone
Despite their disappointment, they all agreed that Alana’s connection with Shane wasn’t ordinary. Why else would she have such an expensive emerald bracelet?
Remaining suspicious of Shane, they resolved to investigate discreetly, determined not to give up until they found the truth and located their father.
Alana sat before her dressing table, removing her mask, when her phone suddenly rang, displaying the same number from earlier
Shane was calling me? Hadn’t he changed his number in the past five years? No wonder this number seemed familiar when he called me
earlier.
“Hello? Who’s this?” Alana unhurriedly answered, feigning ignorance.
“It’s Shane Channing. We met earlier today. You must be Alana, Dr. Walters who Shane’s deep voice..
just returned from abroad?” She heard
It appeared he had obtained her phone number, possibly via Rowan, and pieced together her identity.
“Yes, Mr. Channing. I’m sorry about what happened with the child earlier, Alana apologized preemptively, hoping to avoid any lingering tension.
Though they had some prior contact five years ago, she didn’t know much about him, except that he was open with familiar faces but reserved with others, making him somewhat enigmatic.
She didn’t know if he also found children bothersome.
Meanwhile, Shane pondered why Alana hadn’t revealed her identity at the company earlier. But he needed her assistance now, so he maintained politeness.
“No need to apologise, Dr. Walters Your son is charming and brave. He gave me the emerald bracelet: I should be thanking him, Shane replied.
He paused for a moment, then continued, I planned to discuss my grandmother’s condition at the Channings‘ villa today, but something came up. Are you available now? I can arrange a meeting spot”
Alana hesitated, glancing at her reflection in the mirror. “Now? It’s a bit late, and I live quite a distance from the city centre. It’s inconvenient for me to go out. If you have any inquiries, just talk over the phone.”
On the other end, Shane paused before conceding. “No problem. Since you’ve treated her today, how do you assess her condition?”
Alana explained, “She has a common geriatric illness, with moderate brain atrophy. There’s no cure on the market, enly treatments to alleviate symptoms. Traditional treatment and herbal medicine can slow the progression. These treatments: must be combined with regular cognitive exercises to keep her mind active.”
“Cognitive exercises? Give me an example,” Shane inquired; he seemed interested.

“Got it. Thank you, Dr. Walters. I’ll purchase those for her. Shane said, intrigued. “Seems I consulted the right person. How much does the treatment cost? Can you make an offer?”
Soon, their discussion focused solely on financial issues, without any unwanted detours.
