Mark jolted up from the sola. “Mom, don’t get angry with me. Don’t put he blame on me if you feel unwell from your anger” reasted swiftly, springing up from the sofa.
“I’ll leave if you don’t want to see nie”
“You!” Rose was so furious that she was at a loss for words. The Channings quickly stepped in to calm her down.
Shane hurriedly pulled Mark to the dining room.
“Uncle Mark, can’t you speak micely to Grandma? You guys are always fighting every time you’re here”
“Shane, do you think it’s my fault too? I didn’t provoke her, she just doesn’t like me
“What do you mean she does) like you? She’s just upset because you can’t meet her expectations. Shane pulled out a chair. and made Mark sit down
Mark was right years older than Shane, but they had grown up together since childhood. They were more like brothers who Mark could talk about anything instead of uncles and nephews.
Don’t you dare lecture me just because you bring your girlfriend with you? I’m still your uncle”
“Yes, I was wrong” Shane quickly apologized, then added, “It’s Grandma’s birthday today. We shouldn’t upset the queen. right
Then, Mark glanced at Rose’s direction. “She’s the queen of the horsehold every day”
Suddenly, laughter filled the living room. “Your girlfriend is impressive, she really made Mom happy. Where did you find her? When did you guys start dating? Why you didn’t tell me anything?”
“I picked her up on the street a couple of days ago, Shane said. He recalled Celia’s disheveled appearance when they first met that night.
“What? From the streets? A damsel in distress?” Mark was surprised.
“I was just joking. Uncle Mark It’s a long story. I’ll tell you all about it later.”
Shane looked at Celia and whispered,
“She’s not a damsel in distress. She’s someone strong even though she’s going through a lot.”
Just then, Lana brought Celia around to explore the Channings villa
They got along well, chatting and laughing as they made their way towards the second floor.
Yesterday, Shane had picked out three outfits for Celia at the mall, thinking they would suit her. He didn’t expect them to fir her so perfectly and she looked stunning in it.
“Are you that in love with her? You can’t seem to take your eyes off her Mark teased when he noticed where Shane was looking.
“It’s not what you think. We’ve only known each other for a short time. I just don’t dislike her, so I’m giving it a try.” Shane said while averting his gaze.
“It looks like opposites really do attract! She’s the first girl you’ve ever brought home all these years, don’t deny it”
Mark added, “If I could meet such a beautiful and talented girl, maybe I wouldn’t have been single for so long.
“Seems like I have to go out more often when I’m free. Maybe I can find someone from the streets too”
As soon as Mark finished talking, they burst into laughter.
“Are you settling all the debts owed by the Durbans?” Mark asked.

Just then, Rose’s voice was heard from the couch. “Shane!”
“Coming, Grandma! Shane hurried over.
During the meal, Mark gave Bose a toast and took the initiative to apologize to her. He had also expressed his intention to learn more from Shane in the future.
Rose finally forgave him.
At that moment, a teenage boy came down from the stairs. He was wearing something casual
He was tall and thin, with a handsome face that bore some resemblance to Shane.
“Why are you so late? How many times had Sam reminded you? It’s your grandmother’s birthday today, why are you making the whole family wait for you?” George scolded him
Steven Channing looked around and said. “You guys didn’t wait for me either.
“You! How could you talk back to me? You’re so disrespectful George stood up angrily and wanted to throw our a punch.
Liam who was sitting beside him quickly stopped him.
“George, Steven is still a child going through a rebellious phase. Don’t waste your time on him.
“Today is Mom’s birthday Don’t make her upset
George said with gritted teeth. Is he still a child? He’s already fifteen. All he does is play games and his pets all day long. When Shane was his age, he had won so many awards”
Steven lowered his head and kept quiet.
Celia was surprised to see the complicated relationships in the Channings
Mark, Shane, and, Luna were all eating with their heads down. They weren’t bothered about what was happening.
Only Sally and Jennie were calming down the situation.
“Steven, apologize to your father now! Sally and Jennie urged him anxiously.
After hesitating momentarily, he finally apologized. Tm sorry. Dad”
Rose, who had been silent, spoke up. “Well, George. Let’s end it here.
“Celia is here for the first time and has already witnessed two wars: Don’t frighten her.
“Steven, come over and theet your Shane’s girlfriend, Celia
Steven finally noticed the beauty sitting next to Shane. He greeted her while blushing. “Nice to meet you,
“Hello” Celia quickly stood up and responded.
She had only realized that Steven was Shane’s brother.
However, it was clear that they were half–brothers just by their features.

Celia was amazed by Shane’s eloquence for the first time. He kept making Rose burst into laughter and whispered to Mark as if there were endless things to talk about.

It seemed that he was not always so serious, but just hadn’t met someone he wanted to talk to
Chase and Steven hardly spoke throughout the whole time although they sat together.
Chase kept stealing glances at Celia. He was upset
After dinner, everyone went to the living room while Steven went to the backyard to check on his animals.
Luna then invited Celia to take a walk in the yard.
After five minutes, Celia’s frightening screams could be heard.
