I lowered my head self–consciously as I saw the disdainful look in Elliott’s eyes.
Because during the two years when the legal person was imprisoned, it made me realize clearly that I was nothing more than a rat in the gutter.

I smiled bitterly and said, “My lungs are not good, I can’t inhale secondhand smoke”
Elliott snorted coldly, “Just had you become a legal person, spent three years, and now you’ve developed a princess syndrome.”
Just as I lowered my head in silence, Melanie walked straight in.
Elliott
opened the doors and windows right away, helping Melanie sit in a place with less smoke.
Melanie said to Elliott in an annoyed fone, “You were smoking behind my back again. Smoking is harmful to your health”
Elliot immediately smiled and raised his finger to swear, “Melanie, I never smoked again.”
As I watched their sweet smiles, I wiped away the bitter tears at the corner of my eyes
As I was about to leave, Melanie came up to me and grabbed my hand, saying, “Laylah, that year it was all my fault. I shouldn’t have listened to Elliott’s advice and made you the scapegoat ”
“Elliott was also kind back then, don’t blame him.
I withdrew my hand lightly and didn’t want to speak.
Elliott, however, discontentedly spoke up, “Laylah, it was just an accident that you were imprisoned as a legal person back then. Neither your sister nor did it on purpose.”
“Did you forget that your sister saved your life before when you acted alood towards her?”
I denied in a low voice, “I didn’t forget.”
After Elliott knocked me down, he helped Melanie sit down and asked her, “Melanie, are you feeling better now?”
Melanie held her stomach in pain and shook her head in agony
Elliott was not confident about taking her for a medical examination.
I watched their disappearing figures, feeling a bit sad.
I used to think that the day’s would pass by so peacefully.
Until April Fools‘ Day this year, Elliott finally smiled at me.
I was infected by the smile on Elliott’s face and asked him with a smile, “Honey, any good news recently?”
Elliott turned his head to the side and said, “Your sister’s kidneys were damaged and she needed a kidney transplant to survive, but a matching donor has already been found.
I curiously asked, “Would they be willing to donate a kidney to Melanie?”
Elliott, however, stared at me blankly and said, “As long as you are willing, your sister could have lived”
My breath hitched, and awkwardly said, “Are you saying that it’s enough if I’m willing? Well, even if I am willing, the family of the donor may not be willing.”
Elliott turned and stared at my face, asking, “So as long as the donor’s family agrees, you are willing, right?”
Although I didn’t quite understand what he meant, I still nodded.
Elliott lowered his head and said, “I and your sister agreed for you to donate a lddney. We will arrange the surgery for you later today.”
The smell of smoke choked me, making it difficult for me to breathe, but Elliott thought I had agreed.
