“Aunt Lin is my wife, these are things that you don’t need to do, but I’m happy that you are so thoughtful.”
“That’s great! I haven’t gone shopping for so long Although I don’t have time yet, I appreciate An’s courtesy. You don’t have to be so polite. We are a family, after all.”
If she didn’t have that conversation with Hua Fan about talking nicely to Hua Shengan so that Hua Ranran could be cleared of suspicion and Luo Tian could be released, Ranran would’ve snapped by now.
“Aunt Lin, yesterday I saw you with a cool man in the downtown area. Was that your friend? I was alone at that time. I called out to you, but you didn’t hear me. I followed you for about half a block before you disappeared, so I had to watch a movie on my own.”
Hua Shengan acted like she was surprised, giving Lin Xue a look of mockery and disdain when Hua Fan couldn’t see.
“You must be mistaken. I went to the Chinese medicine hospital yesterday to get some herbs to help your Dad sleep better. I didn’t go to the downtown area.”
Lin Xue trembled at the look Hua Shengan gave her. Her eyes weren’t of a young woman. Instead, they belonged to someone who had gone through a hard life. Lin Xue quickly turned around and explained to Hua Fan.
“But the coat hanging on the rack is the same one I saw yesterday! Oh my god, I’m so sorry. I must’ve seen wrongly.” Hua Shengan looked at Hua Fan and covered her mouth as she apologized to Lin Xue with a look of panic.
“I’m done with dinner. You guys can enjoy your food. I’ll go upstairs first.” Hua Shengan stood up and went upstairs hastily under their gaze before shutting her room door. A grin spread out on her face.

“Mom, why didn’t you let me talk? Didn’t you hear what she said? How did you expect me to tolerate her attacks?!” Hua Ranran punched her bed while whispering angrily to Lin Xue in her room.
“Even if you can’t endure it, you have to. Did you not understand what the police meant when they came to interrogate you? There’s someone supporting her and a powerful one too! We planned everything so deliberately. How could she get away while you became the suspect? With Xiao Chengjue’s power, why didn’t she just send you into jail? Have you ever thought about that before screaming at me every day?!” Lin Xue scolded Hua Ranran.
Why is this child so immature? Her mind is too naive! Lin Xue thought as she rubbed her aching head.
“You are my mother, but you are helping her right now! Who knew if what the police said was real or not? What if they were purposely trying to get the truth out of us? Even if Liu Ke survived, he would be paralyzed anyway, and they wouldn’t be able to get any information out of him. So you don’t have to worry about those police officers. I will be fine,” Hua Ranran scoffed. I saw how severe Liu Ke’s injuries were. It would be impossible for him to wake up and testify against us.
“I’m not scared of the police; I’m scared of Xiao Chengjue. Do you not know what kind of person he is? He is the overlord of this city! More than half of the businesses here belonged to the Xiao family. Besides, they own a majority of the coast. Anyone who dares to go against him will be doomed. Yet here you are giving yourself away when we are trying to avoid getting noticed by him.”
Lin Xue had to explain so much to Hua Fan earlier because of what Hua Shengan said. She was only

relieved when Hua Fan got annoyed by her nagging. Right now, she was beyond furious at Hua Shengan.
“I don’t care about that. I’ve gone through hardships with you since young and finally stood a chance. among the socialites, surpassing Hua Shengan. If it wasn’t for the fact that Dingfeng Group is in Hua Shengan’s hands, I wouldn’t have set up such a huge scheme and cause her to hate Luo Tian because of it.”
Hua Ranran grabbed the bed sheets tightly. That damn Hua Shengan. When did she even hook up with Xiao Chengjue? That man has too much energy and time to stick his nose in other people’s business. So what if he is rich? I don’t even like him at all.
“All you care about is Luo Tian. Why do you even remember him? He’s just garbage and can’t even do things right. I don’t understand what do you see in him.”
Lin Xue could only let her daughter fool around even if she was disrespectful. She was trying to make up for letting Ranran suffer with her when she was a kid. They only started having a good life when they returned to the Huas. Who will love Ranran if I don’t?
“Didn’t I come from a rural place too? I was even called an illegitimate child! Those were the darkest days of my life.” Tears glistened in Hua Ranran’s eyes, and she clenched her jaw.
“Hua Shengan was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. She was protected and held dearly by people while I had to survive in a shabby house! It’s so unfair! So I want to take away everything she has, including her man!”
Hua Ranran giggled and swung Lin Xue’s arm around. “Mom, did you know? I threw her favorite doll into the pond and cut her flowery dress into pieces. Then I snatched her father, lived in her house, and even had a bigger room. But that wasn’t enough. So I stole her man and made him follow me willingly! I wanted to make her lose everything!”
“Yes, I saw everything. Not only do you deserve those things, so do I. It’s what we deserved.” Holding Hua Ranran’s hand, she pushed away the hair that fell in front of her face.
“Ran, listen to me. We have to get through these few days safely, so don’t piss off Hua Shengan. Since we don’t understand why Hua Shengan didn’t lay her hands on you even with Xiao Chengjue supporting her, you should stay home. Luo Tian’s reputation has already gone bad, and he has nothing anymore. So don’t waste your time on him and protect yourself instead, alright?”
Lin Xue was a little disappointed in Hua Ranran, who still cared about Luo Tian. That man only knew how to sweet–talk and please women. He is not worthy of Ranran at all. She is too childish to think that other people’s things are always better.
“Mom, I know you look down on Luo Tian, but I can’t give up on him even if you don’t help me.” Hua Ranran’s mood went sour when she heard Lin Xue’s judgment of Luo Tian. “Let me ask you a question. Were Hua Shengan’s words true? Did Daddy know that you were on a date with another man?” Hua Ranran’s eyes narrowed as she looked up at Lin Xue.
“Look at your attitude! How disrespectful of you to talk to me like that!” Lin Xue angrily exclaimed as she stood up, and was about to leave.
“Mom, I don’t know if Hua Shengan saw it or not, but I did!” Hua Ranran stared at Lin Xue as she spoke.
