“An, the police are coming to investigate the incident on the cruise that day. Don’t go out,” Lin Xue finally spoke.
Hua Shengan looked at her with apathetic eyes. “Are they looking for me? I didn’t receive any notice, so it’s none of my business,” she said calmly.
If I become the witness for Hua Ranran, I might fall into their trap again. I need to go to the detective’s office today. There was no one coming to interrogate Hua Ranran these few days. Xiao Chengjue must’ve imposed some pressure on the authorities to give me time. Since he didn’t tell me anything, I should be fine.
“You are Ranran’s sister, and you were on the boat with her. How does it not concern you at all?” Lin Xue raised her voice. She researched Hua Shengan, but the people in the police station kept quiet, and she couldn’t get any information out of them at all. It seems like this brat really got herself good support.
“Then tell the police to find me!”
Hua Shengan lost her appetite. She recalled that she had something important to tend to and put down her chopsticks. Before she could head upstairs, Lin Xue called for her.
“An, you are the elder sister. How hard is it to help Ranran out? Especially when the evidence is directed at you! Are you not scared? If Luo Tian and Ranran makes the same testimonials, then this incident definitely involves you! If you help Ranran, then both of you will be fine. Even if you don’t consider me, please consider your father.”
Lin Xue held her fist tightly as she stood up. Her voice was still filled with warmth and kindness.
“Do you really think I would still put myself in his shoes? I stopped doing that when you stepped into this house while pregnant with Ranran and when my grandfather died. What else do you want from me? Come again when you can think of something that will make me compromise.” Hua Shengan felt unworthy of her past self, looking at Lin Xue’s pale face. When Lin Xue joined the Hua family, she watched all of them enjoy their time together and wanted to join them. She assumed that it was necessary to compromise.
“An, what do you mean? Both of you are related by blood! Even if you don’t help her, don’t speak nonsense about her! Ranran is a kind soul. You shouldn’t frame her like this!”
Lin Xue remembered that Ranran held her hand last night and asked her if her father was Hua Fan and did she really belong to the Hua family. It alerted her, and she couldn’t wait any longer to get rid of Hua Shengan now that she behaved like this.
“You know what you did. Like mother like daughter.”
Hua Shengan went upstairs to get ready and kept her emotions in check before leaving the house. She lowered her cap to cover her face and walked into the pharmacy nearby.
Although she was pregnant once, it was her first–time buying contraceptive pills from the pharmacy. The cashier was obviously confused about Hua Shengan covering her face but didn’t say anything. It wasn’t like they were living in the Stone Age. Buying pills was a normal thing, but Hua Shengan made it seem abnormal.
She bought another bottle of water along with the pills and ate one straight away. She hadn’t gotten her revenge, so it was not the time for her to be involved with anything else, especially when she remembered her unborn child from the past. The memory of the pain when the knife sunk into her body made her break out in cold sweat even under the hot sun.

The detective sent some pictures of Lin Xue together with a man. It seemed that there was not much interaction between them except that they got into the same car and house. The detective also provided some information about the man. He owned some shady businesses and underground influences.
