Chapter 5 Great–Grandchild
Melissa’s POV:
I was stunned. Great–grandchild? Alpha King heir?
I followed Camila’s gaze to the box of pills and suddenly felt uneasy. Wait–was Mrs. Harlow hoping I’d be pregnant with her great–grandchild?
“This was the Alpha’s order,” Andy explained respectfully to Camila.
“Hmph, if that little brat has something to say, he can come tell me himself.”
Camila turned toward me. Her stern expression softened instantly into a warm, almost grandmotherly smile. “So, you’re Melissa?”
I didn’t like Adrian, and I didn’t particularly care for Camila either. But out of basic courtesy, I asked, “Mrs. Harlow, is there something I can help you with?”
“You may not be much to look at, but you’re quite likable,” she said, beaming at my polite response.
I was confused. I’d deliberately darkened my skin tone today, drew thick brows, and dotted fake freckles on my face. In short, I’d made myself look as plain as possible. Why was she being so friendly toward me?
Camila reached out and took my hand affectionately. “Girl, you’re the only woman so far my grandson Adrian has willingly slept with!” she said excitedly.
“If the two of you have a child, that child will be the heir to our Alpha King bloodline.”
She grew solemn as she continued, “Years ago, our family made a pact to defend the pack against the Witchborn Clan. In retaliation, they cursed us. If the Alpha King doesn’t produce an heir within a certain timeframe, each generation of our family will only have one child–until the seventh generation, when the bloodline dies out completely.
“That’s why I don’t care that you’re a werewolf without a wolf spirit. As long as my grandson is willing to have a child this year, the curse will be broken.
“I’ve looked into your background. I know your adoptive human parents are in the hospital. You’re working multiple jobs to support them. You’re a good kid. If you’re willing to give the Harlows a child, I’ll agree to any condition you name.”
My eyes widened in shock. I yanked my hand back like I’d been electrocuted.
“No, Mrs. Harlow. Humans raised me. I don’t follow werewolf traditions, and I’m not interested in marrying or having a child with someone I don’t love.
“Your grandson should find his fated mate.
Isn’t a child born of true mates supposed to be the strongest?”
They seriously thought just because Adrian and I had slept together, I should now give him a child?
Who do they think I am?

This was insane. Way too rushed and reckless.
Camila didn’t respond immediately. She simply stared at me, deep in thought…
Leticia’s POV
Finally, the day had come–Adrian had agreed to meet with me.
He arrived at the Western–style restaurant half an hour after I did.
“Sorry to keep you waiting.”

He walked in wearing a silver–gray suit with subtle pale patterns, a black dress shirt underneath, and an aura that screamed Alpha King.
Just a faint curve of his lips sent my heart racing.
I’d only heard of him during the elite social gatherings between packs, but seeing him in person, he was even more powerful, more regal, and far more breathtaking than I had imagined.
He was even colder than I’d imagined.
I steadied my racing heart and stood up, offering him a respectful nod. “Alpha, you’re right on time. I arrived a bit early” Adrian sat down across from me. He glanced at me once, then looked away. “What would you like to eat?”
I had put a lot of thought into my appearance today–light makeup, limited–edition Gucci diamond earrings and necklace, and a new Dior dress. I wasn’t sure if it was enough to catch his eye.
“Alpha, anything’s fine. I’ll have whatever you’re having.” I smiled sweetly.
“Alright.”
He pressed the call button on the table, and a server quickly entered the private room. Adrian ordered the two most expensive single–person meals on the menu, along with a bottle of red wine.
“If you’re the heir to the Silverblood Pack, why were you alone in the outskirts that day? Not a single Beta or warrior with you?”
Adrian leaned back in his booth, legs crossed, sharp eyes fixed on me.
My heart clenched. I tightened my grip on my skirt, forcing a guilty smile.
Trying to sound calm, I lied, “To be honest … Working as a delivery girl is part of my dad’s plan to toughen me up.
“He wants to see if I can handle dangerous rogues on my own, and also hopes I’ll understand the struggles of the lower ranks. That way, I’ll be better prepared to lead the Silverblood Pack in the future.”
I’d rehearsed these words countless times.
As soon as Adrian scheduled this meeting, I told my parents everything. They had expected this question. I even sent someone to pull surveillance footage from the hospital route Melissa took that day to figure out exactly what happened and where.
To make it convincing! I delivered food for a full week–me, a high–born Alpha heir. I suffered more than a few humiliations,

“Your father’s approach is smart. A little hardship is good for you,” Adrian said approvingly.
“I think so too. I admire my dad’s foresight.”
“Give me your bank account info. I’ll have my finance team transfer 100 million dollars to you tomorrow.”
“What?”
I blinked, not quite understanding why he suddenly brought up money.
“You risked your life to save me. That’s your reward.”
“N… No, that’s not necessary.”
hundred million dollars was tempting, of course–but what I wanted was Adrian himself.
I wanted to be his mate. Hopefully, one day, his Luna.
I shook my head and gave him a soft, graceful smile. “Even if it had been some random, low–ranking human in danger that day, I would’ve still helped. Most people would’ve. It’s just basic decency.”

“If you don’t want a reward, you can have your father contact my Beta directly. When we negotiate resource allocations among the packs, I’ll make sure the Silverblood Pack gets priority.”
I swallowed my disappointment and maintained a polite smile. “Thank you for the offer, but really, there’s no need.” As soon as the words left my lips, Adrian’s phone suddenly started ringing.
