Chapter 1
In the reflection on the window, Zaid Jimenez wore a sharp suit. Stray strands of hair fell across his brow, slightly veiling his finely sculpted features.
Outside, the city’s heart pulsed with its usual rhythm–crowded streets, endless traffic, people coming and going in a blur.
Zaid gently touched Adeline Lovell’s belly and gently took her soft, pale earlobe between his lips.
Her cheeks turned red. She parted her lips as if to speak but couldn’t form a single word–eventually surrendering to his unrelenting desire.
Two hours later, Zaid finally satisfied his desires.
He fastened his belt, seamlessly slipping back into the calm, controlled man known in Los Angeles as the unreachable rising tycoon. Sitting behind the desk, he gave a quick order.
“Clear my schedule for the rest of the day.”
Adeline, her legs still trembling, responded without thinking, “Okay.”
When she had freshened up and gotten dressed, she came out to find the office empty. Zaid had already left without a word, just like always. She was used to it by now.
For four years, Adeline worked beside Zaid as his special assistant.
But behind the scenes, she was his secret lover.
Leaving the CEO’s office, she walked past the other secretaries. Some

stared at her with judgment, others with curiosity.
Adeline ignored them and sat down, focusing on organizing Zaid’s schedule.
By the time she was done, it was already midnight.
She had just gotten home and was lying down to rest when her phone rang.
“Come pick me up at Phantom Club in half an hour,” Zaid said, then hung up.
Adeline sighed and quickly got ready, hailing a taxi to the city’s most exclusive club.
Ten minutes later, she reached the entrance.
She crossed the elegant lobby and rode the elevator up. Just as she reached Room 8888 on the top floor, voices and laughter spilled into the hallway.
“Zaid, you’re getting engaged soon. Why not let me have your assistant? She’s got a nice body…”
The speaker paused and clicked his tongue. “I get butterflies every time I see her.”
Adeline froze just before opening the door. She heard Zaid chuckle.
“No way. My fiancée is fragile. She can’t handle much. If I gave you my assistant, where would I vent myself?”
Laughter and ridicule filled the room.
“Zaid, you’re lucky to have such a loyal assistant.

“I found the woman who saved me four years ago,” Zaid replied calmly.
Through the crack in the door, Adeline stood motionless, her face going pale.
She clenched the handle, memories flashing through her mind.
Four years ago, Adeline had been riding home in a friend’s car.
On
a winding road outside Los Angeles, she saw a black Maybach break
through a guardrail and..
Gasoline leaked everywhere, and the car was about to catch fire. Adeline didn’t hesitate. She ran straight into danger and pulled Zaid from the wreck.
While slipping in and out of consciousness, he held her hand and promised, “I’ll repay you.”
A steel rod pierced Adeline’s shoulder. She used the last of her strength to call the emergency number before passing out.
Even now, an ugly scar remained on her shoulder as a reminder.
She had believed Zaid gave her the job because he recognized her.
But she’d been wrong all along.
Zaid continued, “Adeline is great in bed. As long as she stays quiet, I’m fine taking care of her forever.”
At that moment, her years of feelings for Zaid shattered.
Tears stung her eyes as she pulled out her phone and made a call, standing just outside the door.
