Chapter 8
Kai’s Point of View
I was lost in my work when I heard stumbling and incoherent mumbling. I straightened my body, and my eyes darted to the other side of the room, where my poor personal assistant was working ‘not so earnestly.
Her head bobbed forward and then backward, then tilted sideways and away from the computer in front of her. Her eyes suddenly flung open, and she pulled her fiery red hair behind her ears. As if in a trance, she stared hard at the computer screen, a small sigh escaping her, and she rubbed her eyes aggressively.
It was obvious just how hard she was trying not to fall asleep. I wasn’t offended that she was lagging off. A small victorious smile spread across my lips.
It’s amusing watching her pretend to stay away. It gave me so much pleasure how she twisted and turned in discomfort.
I shrugged before I proceeded with my work; I was in it again when I heard a sudden slam, and my eyes darted back in her direction. Her head was already on the table, but this time around, she wasn’t making any moves to get back up.
“Chelsea?” called, but there was no response from her.
My eyes darted to the small clock on my work table.
The time was 11:37 P.M.; I didn’t even know that much time had passed already. A small sigh escaped me. I guess it’s time for her to go home. I reluctantly pushed myself out of the chair and walked to the table she was sitting.
She was knocked out.
For a minute, I stared down at her face, her thick fiery red hair hiding away more than half of her face.
Even in this situation, her features were soft, feminine and peaceful. It was almost as though I was looking at a painting. I reached for her face, pulling some of the thick curls away.
She was beautiful…
I felt a sudden surge of anger from within me. I resented the fact that I still admired her so much, even after everything. Frustrated with this feeling, I slammed my hands against the table, the heavy sound echoing through the office.
Chelsea jolted suddenly, looking left and right for the sound. Her panicked green eyes rested on me but instead of relaxing; she panicked even more and jolted out of the chair, almost toppling over, but instinctively I reached and grabbed her before she could fall.
Cursing silently under my breath, scaring her awake seems to be a bad idea.
“M–Mr. Hezron…” she stuttered almost breathlessly, and I steadied her. “I–I wasn’t asleep, I was only-”
Before she could finish her excuse, I interrupted her sharply.
“Let’s go home. It’s late already. You should finish it tomorrow.” I said firmly, and she quickly turned, picked up her bag and phone.
“Good night then, boss.” She answered in a relieved voice, but before she could leave, I grabbed her arm, pulling her back.
“I will drop you off.” I offered, unsure of why, but it was probably the guilt tugging at my conscience. She sho trying to pull away from me.
“I said I will drop you off.” I insisted a little harsher.

“There will be no need for that,” she answered softly, trying to wrench her wrist from my grasp, but I tightened my grip.
“It’s late and dangerous. I doubt you could get any bus, especially in your current condition,” I answered pointedly, but she glared at me with her bloodshot eyes, which were semi–filled with tears.
“If you were so concerned about my well–being, then you would have let me go the moment I was done with my work.” She sneered, her voice laced with bitterness. And I chuckled, a little excited her emotions were showing. It was a bit frustrating she refused to react to my taunts.
She had just silently taken it all.
“You seemed to be mistaken about something I wasn’t asking. I am telling you.” I corrected. “I am driving you home. And if you refuse one more time, I am going to haul you off the grounds and throw you over my shoulders. And take you to my house instead, and I am sure the last thing you want to do right now is spend the night with me.”
She silenced immediately, her jaws clenched, but she turned away from me, taking her silence for approval. I released her, and she followed me sheepishly.
“Don’t tell me you’re offended,” I muttered, glancing at her briefly before my eyes returned to the road. “You very well know this is quite lenient compared to what you used to do to me.”
“I am not complaining.” She snapped at me. “I am just tired, a little cranky because I am hungry and sleepy. I apologize if I stepped out of line earlier.”
I felt my hands tighten against the steering wheel.
She was doing it again.
It was irritating, and it frustrated me.me. I didn’t want her to just take it silently.
I wanted her to beg me, to be miserable, to cry and tell me she couldn’t take it anymore.
It pissed me even more since she wasn’t giving me the satisfaction that I desired.
“Will I be required to come to your house every day?” She then asked curiously, fisting her hands. “??”
“Yes,” I answered, glancing at her again, and this time my eyes fell to the bodice of her dress. I noticed a small opening in her blouse. Two of her buttons had opened, and she didn’t know about it.
The split allowed me to see visuals of her black bra and her well–rounded breasts, but the fabric of the clothes didn’t let me see as much as I wanted. So the rest was left to my imagination, which was not something I needed to know, at least not while I was driving.
I felt myself shift. I stared down at my legs and the surprise greeted me. This is bad.
It’s been so long since a woman had got me feeling like this. I had blood rushing everywhere in my body just from the thoughts of what her breasts looked like.
More and more dirty thoughts spiraled into my head, my curiosity getting the better of me.
“And I hope you’re not late tomorrow, or I will be forced to punish you.” I tried to change the subject to distract myself, but Chelsea frowned at me and remained wordless.
“It will not work,” I told her sternly. Her eyes snapped back towards me.
“What?” she muttered tiredly.
“If you’re trying to seduce me, it will not work.” I explained further, since she was still confused. “If you intentionally left your buttons open just to seduce me, I must tell you that even if I fucked you, it won’t change what I am going to do to you.”

Her eyes narrowed as she stared down at her chest. Her hands quickly went to the opening as she hurriedly fastened her
buttons.
“That’s not my intention. It’s an accident.” She blushed furiously, “I am not trying to seduce you or anything. I am not that kind of person.”
