Chelsea’s Point of View

I staggered backward; thankful for the protective arms that were wrapped around my body. Or I would have been sent flying across Noah’s office. My eyes trailed up, and beautiful green eyes met mine, staring down at me; it was almost as if f were staring at the sea.
A small smirk spread across his face as he steadied me, his hands still holding me tightly and closely. “Is she your girlfriend?” He teased.
“Kade, what do you want?” Kai gritted out. He looked frustrated at just seeing this man, and I wondered why.
“Sorry,” I muttered, realizing I better leave. I tried to step out of the man’s embrace, but his grip on me tightened, and a small gasp escaped me.
“What do you think you are doing, harassing an employee?” Kai’s voice seemed a bit more controlled than the last time; his icy blue eyes were resting on mine now, and his jaw clenched.
Even though Kai seemed to have regained his icy demeanor, I couldn’t help but notice something else in his look, something that I didn’t understand. The man let me go almost immediately and moved away as if the fire had burned him. “Chelsea, please excuse us.”
“Y–Yes, sir.” I stuttered as I looked toward the intruder once more before exiting the office. As soon as I stepped out of the office, I felt all the emotions crashing down at me all at once; I increased my pace as fast as I could, heading for the elevator.
I could hear my heart pounding furiously in my chest, and my breathing came out in uneven gasps.
I was trying to make sense of my current predicament; Noah Alvarez and Kai Hezron were the same person. Shit! I am in deep shit since I now work for him.
“Miss Findley!” I jolted, my soul almost leaving my body, as I stopped in my tracks.
“Yes, sir?” I answered, trying to be as composed as possible; I turned towards the voice that called me; he was the man who had led me to Kai’s office for the private interview.
“I am Benjamin,” he introduced in a steady voice. “A secretary to the CEO, and he just informed me you passed the interview, so please come with me.” He urged, and I nodded in an instant. Going along with him, he led me across the hall and toward the elevator.
“As his personal assistant, you will be required to get involved in not just work–related matters, but in his daily activities.” I felt my heart skip a beat.
Personal Assistant?
“Is that my role?” I wondered, “Did he say I was going to be his personal assistant?”
“Is there any problem?” He queried.
We heard a small beep, and the giant steel doors of the elevator opened. We got out, and I continued to follow him. You only assign the role of a personal assistant to someone you trust, for him to be giving me that role.
Then he must have something up his sleeves.
I clutched my hands tightly, wondering if I should just turn down the offer and leave. I bit down on my lip realizing that this might not be as easy as I thought; I needed the money.

Plus, Noah or Kai, whatever his name is now, he won’t just let it go. Since he wants revenge, he won’t stop word he’s goren’t.
“No, I will do it,” I answered.
He nodded before he opened the door to the office and walked in.
“This is my office. Please come in and have a seat.” He said as I walked in with him. He ev kly walked over to the large table that was centered in the office. And he brought out some files from the shelf behind the table. “Here, please study them. The information is recorded here, like his house address and personal phone number, email address. Remember, all these are confidential information.”
A small blush of surprise appeared on my face, and I nodded, just as I was reading through the payes, he peahed mother folder towards me.
“You can study that one later,” he answered, and I hurriedly pushed the folder to the side, picking up the file in front of me. “That is the agreement I prepared. You can read through it and sign the contract if you agree to the terms and conditio
My shaky hands picked up the paper, and my eyes scanned the documents. It was just too much for me to read, the words jumbled up in my eyes, making me dizzy. My lips quivered, and I flipped the pages, looking hard and carefully.
My eyes widened when I got to the pay; it was a nice five–figure salary; it was more than I hoped to get
And there was a promised increase, if my efficiency was noticeable in the first three months. Turning down an offer like this to go work on my aunt’s farm for some couple of change is madness.
I could pay Cordelia’s tuition fee with this; I could give her a better life if only I could have endured working with Kai.
“Give me a pen, please,” I asked. I had seen enough. I didn’t need to read anything else.
Money. That is all that mattered to me now.
“Please start tomorrow, and remember the CEO doesn’t tolerate lateness and shabbiness,” he said the last part of his statement, with his judging eyes exploring my clothes, and a small blush of embarrassment crept up my face. I need to buy some clothes. “That is all. If you need anything, you can contact me. My contact email is in the folder. I hope we get along?
“Thank you, Mr. Benjamin.” I said with a stiff smile, and he nodded, permitting me to exit the office. Just as I was going out, I bumped into someone, almost falling to the floor, but I could catch myself.
“Can’t you look where you are fucking going?” the shrill feminine voice rang out with contempt. And I raised my head, because the voice sounded familiar. My eyes combatted the brown eyes that seared through me, burning with hate, and I turned away from her abruptly.
No, this can’t be.
“Sorry, I didn’t see someone coming,” I whispered and then proceeded on my way, but her heels clicked against the marble flooring as she went after me, grabbing me.
“You sound so familiar,” she claimed, her eyes probing me. Suddenly, she stopped and her eyes widened in recognition. “Chelsea?”
I fell silent, and she let out a mocking snicker. “What’s going on? Do you mean to tell me you don’t recognize me anymore? Huh? It hasn’t even been so long for you to forget your best friend.”
“You were never my best friend, Lara.” I sneered, tears burning in my eyes, as I now wondered what I did s universe to pay me so cruelly and all in one day.
First, it was Noah, now Lara, the two people who ruined my life, the two people I never wanted to see again.
