Chelsea’s Point of View
“What is the cause of this commotion?” Kai asked glancing around and then his eyes settled upon me, narrowing slightly. “T believe I asked a question.”
“B–Boss…” Lara stuttered, but her composition didn’t falter. They probably didn’t expect him to come so early. They had planned to chew off my head in his absence, so now I wondered if I should be grateful he showed up early or not
“There is something about Chelsea here that we believe you should know.” She continued, her voice assertive. “Being oblivious to her past might cause the company more harm than good.”
“Um?” He drawled casually, his eyes swept over me, and I looked away from him instantly. “What could that be?”
“We believe that she forged her credentials,” George answered this time, his eyes held malice, and I don’t blame him. I would hate me too.
“An accusation of that sort is serious. Are you able to prove it?” He answered confidently, and I twitched slightly. Something in his cold voice irked me.
“Yes.” Lara insisted, she glanced at me with a small smirk playing on her face, as if she was expecting me to beg or something. I cocked my brow at her, challenging her to go on, let’s see if Kai will fire me this time.
I would be more than grateful to her.
“How are you so sure?” Kai’s voice came back.
“I attended the same high school as her, and I know her best.” She admitted, both George and Rebecca stepped forward.
“We did too, Lara isn’t lying,” Rebecca answered confidently. “She isn’t the person she is claiming to be.”
Kai paused for a while, his gaze sweeping over the three of them, and then casually darting toward me again.
“What do you have to say about this, Miss Findley?” I jolted slightly, I didn’t think he would ask me. I simply shrugged my shoulders, I did a lot of bad things at a certain time in my life, and fraud wasn’t one of them.
“I don’t understand these claims,” I answered as calmly as I could, and Kai simply nodded.
“Come to my office with whatever proof you have.” He ordered as he walked off first, and I followed him to the elevator. I got in with him, a little confused about what to say, he slipped his hands out of his pocket and glanced at the watch strapped to
his wrist.
“Did you rest well?” His deep voice suddenly rang out with a ting of curiosity, making me freeze slightly.
“Yes, boss,” I answered, a little surprised he was asking about my welfare, I felt my cheeks heat up and I wondered if this was about that kiss. “Thank you.”
“So, you are saying you believe she forged her credentials?” Kai’s explained briefly, Lara stood confidently before him. “Why?”
is very mean.
“Because she was expelled from high school.” She explained, her eyes darting towards me, I stood at the corner of Kai’s office silently observing the incident. “She was a notorious bully in school, she bullies poor student George in the service department is also a victim, we all attended the same school.”
“And you believed she hid that information from the company.”

“No sane person will include that, because the company won’t hire her,” Lara replied sarcasm dripping in her voice. “The only way the company will hire someone like her is if she forged those credentials.”
I completely agree with her, but she didn’t know I was a different breed of crazy.
“Are you also one of the people she bullied?”
“N–No…” she stuttered,
“What was your relationship with her?” he questioned bluntly and she fidgeted before answering.
“I was her classmate.”
“You were my best friend, Lara.” I corrected folding my arms. “If you are going to tell him the truth, then you should tell him everything.”
She glared at me, and Kai’s gaze lifted slightly.
“Is this true?”
“Yes, boss,” I answered for her, nearing the table.
“What did you do when other students were getting bullied?” Kai asked, and the office fell silent.
“She did nothing but watch and at some point even encouraged me,” I answered, holding her gaze. “I didn’t need to tell the boss anything, because he already knew.”
“You knew?” Her eyes widened.
“I have always felt you were familiar,” Kai mouthed, leaning back in his chair, his left hand covering his mouth. “I didn’t know you were Chelsea’s best friend, but now I think I remember the blond with silly pigtails.”
Lara fell silent, her eyes calculating.
I think she didn’t know about Kai’s duality, what a cruel man. A small smile curled my lips, I couldn’t wait to see her reaction when she realized it.
“It’s not possible, but did you by chance attend-” he interrupted her sharply.
“Yes, I did. As Noah Alvarez, the boy who was pushed down the stairs.” He tapped his forehead confidently and Lara’s face contorted in disbelief. “And if my memory is correct, I know you are not quite the saint. Do you still want this matter to be investigated?”
“You didn’t know she worked here?” I asked in disappointment as the door clicked close, I set down the cup of coffee on the table. I was hoping she could stir up some more trouble and he would fire me impulsively. Since he didn’t fire me when his mother came to cause a ruckus, dread nestled within me. I don’t think he would be getting rid of me anytime soon.
“Lara?” He asked and then shrugged his shoulders. “I couldn’t care less about her. She isn’t important.”
“She isn’t important…” I repeated mockingly, then proceeded to joke. “But you were able to recognize me from a worn- down passport, and I even had my red hair. Am I important?”
“And if I say yes, are you going to believe me?” His gaze hardened, pressing against me, I blinked, and maybe I was hallucinating.
“For your revenge.” I declared with tight lips.
“Much more than that.” He answered, and I cocked an eyebrow at him. “If I tell you I am filled with the desire to bend you over my knee and fill your mouth with something other than my tongue. Will you still look me in the eye and claim to be

“What?” I felt my voice faltering, and I stepped away dramatically from his table, but the seriousness in his eyes didn’t leave
