Kai’s Point of View
“Take it down.” Mother threatened me from over the phone, her voice commanding and compelling. “How cruel can you be?”
I let out another frustrated sigh, sitting up and rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. I probably need to get another phone and change my number. My eyes darted to the clock beside my bed, and it was six in the morning.
She didn’t wait till the sun came up.
“Do you ever sleep?” I thought to ask in a soft groan. “Or do you just take out your phone and call people whenever you wake up?”
“If you had responded to my messages, maybe I wouldn’t have resorted to this.” Her voice bit back at me, and I rolled my eyes. “I called and texted you countless times yesterday.”
Yeah, and I remember ignoring every last one of her calls or texts. She knew the only time I would answer her phone call was when I was still half asleep. I would never answer the phone if I knew she was the one calling, and I was too sleepy to realize. She was using that to her advantage.
“I tried to take it down, but they didn’t let me.” Her voice rang out again.

I could have taken the video the moment I saw it, but I left it there a little to teach her a lesson, she could learn a little self- control.
“When are you going to remove the video?” She asked curiously, and I shrugged.
“Do you plan to apologize to Chelsea?” I wondered and there was a dead silence at the other end of the phone.
“What?” Her voice came back, she sounded like she was slapped across the face, but I meant it. I have no intentions of taking down those videos until she apologizes formally to Chelsea, matter of fact, I plan to upload them personally if anyone ever tries to take them down.
“I am sure you don’t need a hearing aid, Mom,” I answered curtly, my fingers running into my hair. “You heard me perfectly.”
“No.” she declared stubbornly, and the corner of my lips lifted, her stubbornness would definitely make things fun for me. “I will never apologize to that lowlife.”
“Mother, do you know if she decides to sue you, she would win this case?” I asked and the line went silent again. “For physical assault in her workplace, and I am willing to testify against you. She had a lot of injuries from that assault, and you would be looking at a promising lawsuit.”
“You ungrateful little bastard.” She sneered.
“At least you are right about something.” I chuckled. “I am indeed a bastard, so I figured I should act like one.”
“Everything that I did was because of you.” She gritted angrily and I shook my head, not again with that victim mindset. “That was the same girl that used to bully you when you were younger, and the same girl who pushed you from the stairs. Did you lose your memory? She is the enemy here, not me, and after what I did you should support me.”
“I decided that I was going to be rational in this case.” I declared. “It doesn’t matter why you did it. I demand you apologize to her.”
“I am your mother.”
I rolled my eyes, tell me something I don’t know.

“I don’t care what you are, all I am saying is if you want the video to be removed you have to apologize to her, publicly,” I repeated in a more precise voice, just in case she didn’t understand what I mean. There was no room for compromise. “I am sure even though father is away, he must have gotten his hands on the video. I don’t want to imagine the look on his face when he sees his mistress making a fool out of herself.”
“You shouldn’t be so mean to your mother, Noah.” She sounded hurt.
“I told you not to call me that!” I growled again, tightening my fist. “My name is Kai. Kai Hezron.”
“After everything I did for you, is this how you are going to repay me?” her voice turned accusatory, and my nose scrunched up in disgust. “It’s thanks to my sacrifices you have such-”
I interrupted her immediately.
“I never asked you for any of those things!” I snapped, my voice tearing through the silence of my room, and in frustration, I bounced up to my feet. “I never wanted to live in a big house, or have such title or responsibility, all this was your idea. You never did any of those things for me, you did it for yourself.”
“How can you just sit there and say those horrible things to me?” She yelled back, I wasn’t going to let her blackmail me emotionally anymore. I am sick and tired of having her boss me around and act like I am supposed to be grateful to her for the air I breathe in.
Most of all, I was tired of being used as a tool to secure a position in the Hezron family.
I am sick and tired of that bullshit.
“Do you want the video removed or not?”
“I don’t want to apologize to that girl,” She sniffed, she was crying again. “You don’t know how hard it is dealing with the humiliation at home for being a mistress, and now you want to humiliate me more by apologizing to that girl.”
“You should call me back when you are ready,” I said about to end the call when her sharp voice stopped me.
“Do you like that girl?” She accused and I felt myself stiffened. “For you to do this to your mother then something must be going on between you two.”
“It’s none of your business,” I answered, unable to decide within myself if I was doing this because I liked Chelsea or not.
“Fine.” She gave up, and a smirk spread across my lips. “I will apologize to her, but let me have some pride. I will do it privately.”
