Chapter 25 Tit for Tat
Katie raised an eyebrow, her stare fierce and piercing.
“I remember it very well,” she stated.
She would never forget this moment.
Without another word, she shut the door, unwilling to engage further.
Outside, Eddie stood still, holding the necklace in his hand, reflecting on what he had just said.
He immediately regretted his words.
Yet, there was something deliberate in her earlier statement.
She must have caught his drift. Was she still upset?
He gazed at the closed door, wondering what to do about Katie.
Katie’s mood turned sour.
She shouldn’t have hoped her brothers would suddenly feel guilty and cry in remorse!
But she had overestimated things!
She had underestimated how important Sally was to Eddie.

After all, Eddie had been moved to tears by a simple bowl of soup from Sally, while her years of cooking nutritious dishes had meant nothing.
She wished she could undo all her effort.
She decided not to help Melvin’s team anymore, to stop cooking for Eddie, and to withdraw her support on Rowan’s firewall security issues.
As for Zach, Clifford, and Norris …
She would take back everything, one by one.
Katie opened the game forum and found the guide she had written recently on “How to Achieve a Twelve–strike Combo for Beginners.”
It was now gaining attention.
Many had saved it, but others had mocked her, calling her arrogant.
Katie didn’t respond. She just summarized her experience based on that person’s advice.
Then she got a private message.
When she saw the sender’s profile, she realized it was Melvin’s account.
He messaged, “Hey, do you remember when you stole my boss last time?”
Of course, Katie remembered, as it had been intentional.
She didn’t reply.
Melvin sent another message, “Ever thought about joining a pro esports team? The perks are great. I value your skills, and joining the team would mean professional training!”
Katie felt a sense of irony reading the message.
Melvin had finally understood the reality. Sally was unreliable, and now that he knew she wasn’t joining the competition, he was trying to recruit her again?

She rejected the offer right away. “I refuse.”
After sending her reply, she logged off without hesitation.
Melvin read the message and, for some reason, Katie’s face appeared in his mind.
It was always those same words when she turned him down.

He shut down the computer in frustration. Because of Katie, he had been kicked out of his living space, and he couldn’t help but feel wronged.
He regretted a bit, especially for hitting her during the revival competition.
But his pride wouldn’t allow him to back down. After all, he was used to being pampered by Katie, who treated him like her brother.
Time passed quickly, and the final mock exam arrived.
Katie felt confident as she took the test and thought she did quite well.
She finished early and handed in her paper before heading out to the playground to relax.
Upon returning to the classroom, she saw Sally crying at her desk, with no sign of her usual group of lackeys.
“Sally, don’t cry. We all know you wouldn’t cheat.”
“Exactly, the teacher will investigate and prove your innocence.”
“Yeah, Sally, you’ve always had good grades, there’s no way you’d need to cheat.”
Katie overheard the discussions and likely figured out what had occurred.
She had always suspected that Sally had cheated on her grades, especially since her lackeys‘ marks were still quite good.
This never happened in her previous life.
It seemed that Sally had become too engrossed in gaming, and in an effort to boost her ranking, she ended up taking risks.
However, in her previous life, during the college entrance exams, Sally was fully exposed, failing badly, even worse than Josephine.
Once the exam results came out, Katie did very well.
Sally tried to make excuses, claiming that her poor performance was due to her mood being affected by Katie.
For a long time, Katie had been ignored by her brothers, and finally, Clifford suggested that she and Sally apply to the same university, so they could look out for each other. This, he said, would make up for the impact she had on his grades.
What kind of reasoning was that?
In her previous life, Katie had been too afraid to stand up to her brothers‘ demands and could only comply.
As she remembered this, Belinda stormed into the classroom, confronting Sally. “It was clearly your idea to cheat, so why am I the one being punished?”
With tears streaming down her face, Sally responded, “I didn’t cheat! Why are you blaming me? I didn’t ask you to write that
note!”
It was definitely you, Sally! Why won’t you own up to it? Aren’t we supposed to be good friends? How could you betray me like this?”
Belinda was nearly losing it, wondering how she would handle the college entrance exam if she got disciplined now.
Sally, however, appeared completely innocent, and the others around her started blaming Belinda for making false

accusations.
Inwardly, Sally was calm, knowing she would be fine.
Teachers and classmates would only believe her version of the story.
Belinda looked at Katie in despair. “Now I finally get it. Sally is a deceitful person, acting all sweet and innocent, but deep. down she’s a venomous woman!”
Katic gave a sarcastic smile. Belinda finally understood.
Belinda rushed to Katie’s side. “You must know the truth, right? Sally’s grades are usually terrible, and I’ve helped her with her homework. We were in the same classroom during the exam, you passed by and saw everything. Please, tell the teacher what you saw!”
Katie had never gotten along with Sally, so she must have a way to handle this.
Sally’s brow furrowed slightly, realizing that Katie probably wasn’t aware of the full situation.
Katie pushed Belinda’s hand away coldly. “Sally’s actions are well known to everyone, so how can you falsely accuse her?”
Belinda’s face drained of color in an instant.
She likely didn’t expect her to respond like that.
Katie remained composed. She wasn’t a saint. Hadn’t she suffered from the gossip spread by these two lackeys in her previous life?
Now, it was time for them to experience the same bitterness that Sally had caused her before.
After she spoke, Sally immediately felt a sense of relief.
She looked at her lackeys with a hurt expression. “We’ve always gotten along well, and I can’t stand seeing you make this mistake. If you just apologize and admit your fault to the teacher, I’m sure they’ll forgive you this time.”
Josephine added, “Yeah, you can’t just make false accusations without any reason.”
Belinda glanced at Josephine and sneered, “What happens to me today will happen to you tomorrow. You’ll be left to handle. it yourself.”
Josephine, looking uneasy, retorted, “What are you talking about? You’re the one who tried to cheat and got caught. Don’t think Sally will lie for you.”
Belinda raised her voice, “Sally, do you honestly believe I don’t have proof? This time, I’ll reveal everything about your fake grades. Let’s see how you keep up the act of being a top student!”
Sally’s expression shifted instantly.
Is this woman looking for trouble?
The homeroom teacher approached, asking, “Belinda, what proof do you have?”
“I’ve got evidence on my phone. I’ve done Sally’s homework multiple times, and during the exam, I passed a note to her. Katie happened to walk by the classroom, and she must have seen it,” Belinda explained.
The homeroom teacher turned to Katie, asking, “Did you actually see it?”
Katie paused for a moment, thinking it through. She hadn’t really noticed much, but she did recall that Sally had turned
around.

chance?
IfI say I saw it, would that be the end for Sally?
