Katie remained still, staring at them without showing any emotion.
Did they think I was the same person as before!
They had never bothered to consider her opinion, brushing it off as if they were doing her a huge favor.
But she no longer cared.
Eddie lo intervene.
Melvin felt a bit nervous, avoiding Katie’s gaze, waiting for Eddie to intervene.

As the family leader, Eddie spoke up, “Katie, this competition has shown your abilities. No one can take your place in the team going forward.”
With these words, she was supposed to feel reassured, right?
Sally’s face immediately darkened.
She was filled with resentment
She had worked so hard. How could Katie simply take her spot?
Even though she lacked talent, her efforts were just as strong as Katie’s
Melvin also glanced at Katie with hope, even though he didn’t say anything he too wished for her to be
The path was clear, so Katie shouldn’t resist any longer
Katie’s expression remained cold. “I refuse.”
Melvin was slightly taken aback. “Why?”
“Because I entered this competition to defend my parents honor, not to join the team.” Katie replied.
“But you secretly trained, didn’t you? Wasn’t that your goal, to come back? Melvin asked.
Katie hadn’t become this strong overnight.
011 the team
She must have been practicing secretly. If it wasn’t to join the team at any moment, then what else could it be?
He didn’t believe her words and stared at her.
Katie’s features were delicate, her eyes cold and clear, “No.”
Melvin’s heart dropped, and he couldn’t stop himself from asking, “Katie, do you need me to apologize to you personally before you’ll forgive me!”
Katie paused for a moment. “It’s not about forgiveness. There’s more than one team in the world, besides MadSky Team”
She loved competition, but she wasn’t willing to be restricted to the MadSky Team.
Her message was clear.
“Katie, I know you hate me!”
Sally suddenly yelled, her voice shaky with tears.
Everyone turned to look at her.
She approached Katie, speaking softly. “Melvin really wants you to join the team. If my presence has upset you, I’ll leave the team and won’t compete with you for this position
Katie felt a bit annoyed. “You should be quiet. I’m not refusing to join the team because I don’t want to. It has nothing t with anyone
else. Stop trying to make it about you.”

Sally responded. “I knew it, you’re still upset. I shouldn’t have been so bold and taken your place. I thought I could take the chance you didn’t want, prove myself, and help our family, but I was too foolish!”
She sniffled, her voice weak, and she seemed especially pitiful.
Eddie felt a bit of sympathy for her earnest demeanor, Sally, it’s Melvin who overstepped and made Katie upset. It’s not your fault”
Melvin was caught off guard, feeling increasingly frustrated.
He watched Sally’s sorrowful face but didn’t feel much sympathy. He regretted letting her join the team.
Sally was better suited to being a quiet little sister, not someone to work alongside in a career!
Noticing Melvin’s lack of reaction, Sally made a quick decision and suddenly pulled out an eyebrow razor, holding it against her wrist “Katie, if I die. I won’t compete with you for this position anymore, so you can be at ease!”
Katie took a step back, horrified. Was the lesing her mind!
What did my joining the team have to do with her!
Wan’t she the one who didn’t want me on the team in the first place? Now she was threatening self–harm to force me to join the team. Was the out of her mind!
Melvin was equally shocked “Sally, calm down. This has nothing to do with you.”
Sally waped her tears away and smiled faintly. “Melvin, it’s all my fault. Maybe I shouldn’t have taken the chance Katie didn’t want from the beginning, then I wouldn’t have made her angry. I’m already happy to have grown up in the Maddisons. Even if I die. Td be content.
Melvin’s heart softened instantly though he had some issues with Sally earlier.
Eddie looked at Katie anxiously. “Katie, can you really stand by and watch your sister hurt herself like this?”
Melvin’s expression tightened, even though he understood that what Sally was doing wasn’t right.
But if Katie agreed to join the team, wouldn’t everything be settled?
So, as long as she gave her consent, everything should work out.
Katie replied calmly. “Are you all misunderstanding something?”
Eddie was taken aback “What do you mean?”
“First, let me be clear. I’m not joining the team simply because I don’t want to. It has nothing to do with you. Second, Sally used self–harm to try to make me give in. Isn’t that just like me using self–harm to force King into marrying me?”
Her words were biting and accurate.
fell silent, seeming to see her
The teammates, who were about to speak up, point.
Melvin couldn’t help but respond, “No matter what, Sally is part of our family”
Even though she isn’t good at games and lacks responsibility, she’s still just a little girl.
“Why should I care? Whether she harms herself or takes her own life, it’s not my problem. Stop acting so morally superior!”
“Katie, her dad saved your life! How can you treat her like this?”
Melvin was enraged and slapped Katie across the face.
Katie was stunned, having never imagined that he would hit her.
Aside from Clifford, who was known for using physical force, the other brothers had never laid a hand on her.
However, this slap didn’t land on her face.

Ryan, standing nearby, stopped Melvin’s hand with a cold expression. According to the Law on the Protection of Minors, this is already the second act of violence. By law, those involved can report to the police and request personal freedom
protection”
Katie turned her head, gazing at him in confusion.
How did he end up here?
Melvin gritted his teeth. “Who do you think you are? This is a family issue, and as an outsider, you have no right to get involved!”
Eddie recognized Ryan but hadn’t expected him to show up in this situation.
Ryan spoke calmly. “Even someone like me, an outsider, can’t stand by and watch this. You can imagine how outrageous your
actions are.
His eyes were filled with coldness. These people had actually laid hands on her again!
It was almost too much for him to hear.
Eddie furrowed his brows. “Dr. Ashford, you’ve got it wrong. This situation is different”
Ryan retorted. “What’s different? Your fake sister pulled tricks and disappeared, leaving Katle, the real sister, to win the game and force an apology. You didn’t treat her well and even resorted to violence. How can you still save face? Explain yourself!”
Eddie was momentarily speechless, realizing Melvin’s actions toward Katie had been a bit too harsh.
He looked at Katie with some guilt. “Katie, that’s not what I meant. I just didn’t want Sally to do something reckless and harm herself
Kabe pursed her lips.
Ryan scoffed. “You don’t want the fake sister to get hurt, so you hurt the real one instead? What a ridiculous excusel” 1
Eddie’s guilt grew even heavier, and he turned to Melvin. “Apologize to Katie immediately! Who gave you the right to lay hands on her?”
He was stunned by Melvin’s behavior just now.
Melvin froze in place, nervously hiding his hands.
He hadn’t expected himself to actually hit her. Avoiding her gaze, he muttered, “I just got too angry at what you said. That’s why that’s why it happened.”
He couldn’t explain why he’d lost his temper so quickly, acting without thinking, much like he used to casually reprimand her in the past.
After all, no matter how harsh he’d been before, Katie never seemed to hold it against him.
Surely, this time would be no different or so he thought.
At the very least, he wouldn’t repeat this mistake in the future,
Katie’s cheek still throbbed with a dull pain, but it was nothing compared to the ache in her heart
Her eyes gleamed with sarcasm. “And what does that change?
She realized now that her past willingness to endure everything from Melvin had only made him look down on her.
“An apology should come with sincerity.”
Ryan, without hesitation, held Katie’s hand and used it to deliver a sharp slap to Melvin.
