Chapter 9
Since I refused to play along, Adam stopped giving me food and water for three whole days and nights. Each time he came near me, I had a strong physical reaction and felt like I might vomit.
The first time he kissed me, I actually puked on him. Every time after that, I threw up everything in my stomach. He’d always storm off looking
pissed.
Still unwilling to give in, he finally shoved me into the basement.
Adam stood at the door, gazing down at me with a patronizing look. His shadow stretched out ominously, resembling a menacing demon.
“Amy, since you’re not behaving, you need some discipline!” he said. As he turned away, the last bit of light in the room disappeared.
I hugged my knees and curled up in the corner. The room was completely
silent.
I couldn’t shake the memories of the torment I suffered in my past life. Whenever Adam visited, he would start by soothing me gently, only to follow it with his cruel games.
He used candles, ropes, and slender whips to fulfill his need for dominance and cruelty.
I couldn’t stop shaking–fear and hunger twisted in my gut, dragging me down into pure despair.
Suddenly, a thin beam of light appeared from the doorway.
Adam approached me with a plate of appetizing food.

“Amy, hungry? Just kneel and ask for my forgiveness!”
I glared at him and spat in his face. With a defiant smirk, I retorted, “I’d rather starve than ever bow to you.”
Adam’s expression turned menacing as he gripped my neck, his voice deep and ominous.

“Fine, then don’t hold me responsible!” He forced me down and ripped my clothes apart.
I fought back with everything I had, but days without food had left me utterly weak. In hopelessness, I shut my eyes, ready to bite my tongue to commit suicide.
Suddenly, he was thrown across the room and slammed into the corner. The next thing I knew, I was in someone’s arms, warm and safe.
It was Oliver.

With a tremor in his voice, he gazed at me cautiously, as though I were a cherished treasure he’d finally found.
“Amy, I’m sorry I’m late!”
The fear in my heart disappeared in an instant.
I attempted to smile at him, but my eyes involuntarily lowered.
Upon waking, the first thing I noticed was that sterile hospital smell. And the first thing I saw? Oliver’s face again.
He’d saved me. For the third time.
His eyes were filled with concern as he asked, “How are you feeling, Amy?”

I nodded. “And Adam?”
A fierce determination flared in Oliver’s eyes. “He’s in prison. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure he never harms you again!”
Later, I found out that Oliver had beaten Adam so badly that he nearly died and couldn’t ever have kids again.
When Henry heard, it was like he aged ten years overnight.

After he hosted our wedding, he entrusted Oliver with all family matters and retreated from the public eye to enjoy a peaceful retirement.
Because I stayed healthy and took care of myself, Oliver and I had a son who turned out to be super talented, even from a young age.
I wanted to have a daughter next, but Oliver disagreed.
Holding my face gently in his hands, he said, “Amy, I don’t care about having amazing kids. I just want you.”
I felt that, in this life, I had no regrets.
