Chapter 4
Finally, I let out the breath I was holding.
In that moment, my phone began to ring urgently. It was the Basom brothers.
Thinking about how they’d ditched me for Jessica before made my heart hurt, and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. I had to settle the score.
After saying goodbye to Oliver, I headed to the hospital by myself. They were anxiously pacing in the hallway.
I walked up without saying a word and slapped both of them. They just stood there, stunned.
“Amy, what are you doing?” Jessica exclaimed, astonished, from behind them.
Seeing Jessica unharmed, I let out a cold laugh. Then I grabbed her chin and gave her two slaps as well.
Jessica covered her cheeks, tears welling in her eyes. Only then did the brothers recover from their surprise.
Eric shielded Jessica protectively, glaring at me angrily.
་་
‘Amy, why did you hit Jessica?”
“Doesn’t she deserve it? She almost got me killed!”
It was only at that moment that they remembered the previous incident, and a flicker of guilt appeared on Eric’s face.

Jessica, with teary eyes, apologized, “I’m sorry, Amy. I was just overwhelmed with pain…”
Watching her fake those tears, I couldn’t help thinking the Basom brothers were totally clueless.
staring hard, so hard it made
As I turned to leave, I could feel someone staring hard, my skin crawl.
Before I could make it back to the villa, suddenly a sack was thrown over my head, and someone shoved me into a car.
The whole thing brought back memories of being tossed around like garbage among beggars in my past life. My body started trembling uncontrollably.
“Who are you? I’ll give you money, just let me go…”
Nothing. Just silence.
I have no idea how much time passed, but I found myself tied to a chair. A familiar scent of medicine filled the air, making my heart skip a beat.
It was him.
Before I could react, a slap hit me hard, like a gust of wind. A searing pain spread across my cheeks, and the metallic taste of blood filled my
mouth.
Then a man’s voice broke through, trying to sound gruff, but his words were choppy, broken up by coughing and strained breaths.
“Who told you it’s okay to hit the wrong people? Take this as your lesson.”

With a metallic clatter, the iron rod dropped to the floor, and the man’s footsteps faded into the distance. The silence that followed was chilling.
I attempted to scream, but no one answered.
As time went on, everything around me grew increasingly dim. Despair enveloped me.
Suddenly, the phone in my pocket began to ring.
I squirmed against the ropes, desperate. I barely managed to brush against the phone, but I lost my balance and crashed to the ground, hitting my head hard. A sharp pain shot through me, and I struggled to stay awake.
Before slipping into unconsciousness, through the haze, I thought I saw a tall figure rushing toward me.
When I regained consciousness, I found Oliver seated beside my bed.
He was holding my hand tightly, eyes burning with fury. “Who did this to you? I’ll make them wish they were dead!”
Despite the anger simmering within me, I managed to smile through the pain.
“Oliver, you’ve saved me twice now.
“I guess the only way I can thank you is by marrying you.”
Oliver’s anger vanished in an instant. His ears turned bright red.
Thinking back on everything that happened, I was more determined than ever to make them pay.
