Chapter 15
Hearing these comments, Sophia was confused until she went outside and saw the drones in the sky performing and changing formations every few dozen seconds, all spelling out love confessions.
She knew this had to be Alexander’s doing–he was the only one here who knew her name was Sophia.
When she turned to look at Alexander, she met his eyes full of deep affection.
Sophia wasn’t moved by any of this, because these were all things Alexander had done for her before. Even though it was the same person, so many things had changed.
The night breeze brushed across her face, litting her long hair.
Alexander stood holding flowers, their eyes locked as he walked toward her step by step.
For a moment, he felt like he was back in college when he was pursuing Sophia.
Back then he’d been just as nervous holding flowers, walking step by step toward the person he loved.
But then the excitement had been about gaining something now it was about losing everything
A few steps brought him close. He stopped and held out the bouquet, saying gently, “Happy Valentine’s Day, Sophia.”
Sophia didn’t glance at the flowers once, keeping her eyes fixed on him.
Then he watched her pull out her phone, press a few buttons, and hold it to her ear. She looked straight at him as she spoke, “Hello, there are drones flying illegally over the beach on Harbor Boulevard. Please come clear them out.”
Every word reached his ears clearly.
His hand froze in mid–air. Those
eyes
s were still looking at him, but all he felt was bone–deep cold.
In less than five minutes, the drones over the beach started falling one by one, crashing into the ocean and disappearing.
“Hey, what’s happening? Why are they all falling?”
He was too far away to actually hear anything, but he kept Imagining the sound of drones crashing into the sea like they were crashing into his heart, making it impossible to breathe.
Suddenly he felt his hand lighten–Sophia had taken his flowers.
Alexander stared at her blankly, not understanding what this series of actions meant, finding her impossible to read for the first time and realizing he couldn’t see through her maybe he never had.
After taking the flowers, Sophia lowered her head and sniffed them lightly. The scent was still as fragrant as she remembered, but it could no longer give her the feelings from t
memory.
Beautiful things only existed in memories, and people shouldn’t dwell in the past.
the laughed softly, and under Alexander’s somewhat confused gaze, tossed the flowers into a nearby trash can.
The thud hat Alexander’s heart directly, draining the color from his face.
She looked up to meet his eyes and said flatly, ”
“Alexander, don’twaste your energy-
Hearing her rejection once again, Alexander didn’t feel the heart–wrenching pain he’d expected.
Because be sented to have gotten used to the pain every minute, every second since she’d left, his heart had been aching
He’d gone numb. The smile on his face turned miserable “Sophia, you still won’t forgive me? What do I have to do for you to give me chance? I deeply regret my previous decisions. The six donths you were gone, I lived worse than death. I can’t lose you again.” Sophia’s expression didn’t change one bit.

No matter how much he regretted or suffered after she left, it couldn’t change what had already happened.
impossible now.
“It’s no use, Alexander, We’re in
This statement completely deflated Alexander, his eyes full of helplessness and confusion as this version of Sophia felt like a stranger he didn’t know how to handle, so he could only watch helplessly as she turned and left his sight, unable to do anything
That statement was basically Sophia’s death sentence for Alexander.
If he were smart, he’d know not to keep pestering her, , but Alexander clearly wasn’t that smart.
He still didn’t give up. Before, he’d just silently watched and guarded her from the sidelines.
Now he began openly pursuing her
He bought her breakfast, brought flowers, helped her move things–ordinary activities that Sophia couldn’t ignore.
Whenever Sophia threw the flowers in the trash right in front of him, he’d only get down for a moment before acting like nothing had happened, but only he knew that the fortress in his heart was crumbling piece by piece, ready to collapse at any moment, and only Sophia could save him.
He didn’t dare ask for her answer, knowing how hard it would be to hear what he wanted to hear. So he could only foolishly follow behind her, chasing after her.
This day he followed her to the beach. Usually she’d walk along the shore without stopping
But today she stopped halfway through her walk.
Alexander also stopped a few steps away. After waiting a while with no sign of her moving, he finally realized she was waiting for him. Though he told himself not to get his hopes up, his heart couldn’t help but feel secretly pleased.
He walked over with eager steps, saying somewhat nervously: “Sophia…
Sophia still looked at the sea without turning around.
She spoke softly, “Do you remember? We said we’d come see the ocean together.
Hearing this, Alexander paused as his thoughts drifted to the past when they’d just gotten together in college.
When he learned she liked the ocean, he’d said, “Let’s go to the beach for our graduation trip,
Sophia had smiled and agreed, but after graduation, when his parents discovered his intention to marry her, it caused an uproar. This promise was forgotten.
Later, when everything had settled down, he’d said they’d go to the beach for New Year’s Eve 2024
But what was he doing then? He’d completely forgotten this promise, focused only on his arranged marriage partner.
