Chapter 25%
“Mommy, please, wake up,” the small, trembling voice pierced through the darkness of my mind. A mocking, cruel laugh followed.
“Mommy,” she repeated, her voice dripping with venom. “Well, she is your real mommy, is she not? This bitch.“%
A stinging slap landed on my cheek, snapping my eyes open. Beverly’s face came into focus, and along with it, the horrifying memories of what had happened.
“Mommy,” Lorde whimpered, his voice cracking.
“Aw, how tragic,” Beverly mocked, stepping aside to reveal my son, bound and helpless.
Fury erupted inside me.
“You sick woman, Beverly! You’d really bring an innocent child into this? What the hell is wrong with you?” I screamed, my voice hoarse with rage. “You pathetic, insane woman!”
Her smirk dropped, replaced with cold hatred. She slapped me again. Twice. Harder. She’s not contented until my lips bleed from that and my cheeks feels like it’s not connected to my face anymore.
“Because of you and your sister, I lost everything!” she screamed, inches from my face. “How could a mere woman like you and her… ruined everything I have prayed for?”
“What are you talking about? Is this still because of Lucian? Because if it is, you’re a lost case-“}
“Yes!” she screamed even louder, grabbing my hair and jerking me closer to her face to torment me more. “Yes! If I had married him, my father would never have forced me to kill my child. He would not have hated me enough to rip my baby from me. And Derek… he wouldn’t have to face such tragic situation where he cannot even remember who he is.“}
My body shook with anger. Why punish us instead of him? If it’s Lucian’s fault, why is my son in that chair and not him? Why are we dragged into this?/
“The last time I checked, you were still throwing yourself at him like a desperate fool!” I shot back. “Is that what revenge looks like? Is that how you hate him? By seducing him all the time?”
A twisted smile played on her lips. She chuckled like a lunatic.
“Because I was destined for him, Hestia. I was meant to be his wife. Chesca, that slut came and she ruined everything,” she said through gritted teeth. “Even when she was deemed useless for failing to bear a child, then you appeared! The only chance I have vanished! You destroyed my future. If Lucian had abandoned her and married me, my son would be alive. My father would still be alive. And my son would be heir to the alpha position, not that brat.“2
She pointed at my crying son, whose face was drenched in tears, his voice weak from crying. Look how selfish she is. She wants Lucian to father someone’s bastard and worse, make him a full heir.
“Aunt, p–please,” he sobbed. “R–release my Mommy.”
“Aunt?” Beverly laughed in mockery. “I am no aunt of yours. I am the murderer of your real aunt because this woman is your true mother. Biologically. You are all nothing but curses in my life! I can’t wait until you’re truly dead!“}
Fury surged inside me. I spat at her, trembling with disgust. She laughed while crying, smiled while seething. Madness danced in her eyes.%
She hated my defiance.}
“You think Lucian will come?” she asked with a mocking tilt of her head. “He will not. Because I will tell him you faked this kidnapping to
steal his son from him.”
“Lucian will never believe you,” I hissed.”
She grinned and kissed my son’s cheek, an act so vile I felt my stomach churn. How dare she! She’s traumatizing him again. I knew that she’s never really fond of him and only sees him as a way to Lucian’s heart.
“If this plan fails, then I will get rid of the boy first. I will start with Lorde, Hestia. So pray. Pray very hard because I’ll show no mercy to your little boy.”
Terror struck me. Not Lorde. Not my innocent son. He had nothing to do with this chaos Beverly created. He’s fragile and sick.”
“Boys!” she called over her shoulder. “Come here. Have fun with her. Make sure you worn her enough that not even her husband would want her back. Do everything you want to do with her.”
Chills raced down my spine as I heard drunken laughter. The men emerged, stripping off their shirts, faces alight with cruel excitement as they feast their eyes one me.
They were not human. They were wolves, starving and mad, driven by lust. But I guess I can survive them if it means my son will survive too. I’d endure this for him. All for him to be safe.
“Mommy, sorry,” Lorde whimpered. “I.,, I asked Aunt to find your baby because… because I wanted to come from there,” he said, his eyes flickering to my stomach.!!
“Shh, I managed to whisper. “Lorde, close your eyes. Please. Do not speak, do not look at me. Pretend to be asleep.“}]
He sobbed quietly. “But why, Mommy?“}
The footsteps grew louder.&
“Because if you open them, Mommy might disappear, baby. So do not open them until I tell you to.”
I begged the moon to let him listen. Especially now that the men stood ready to devour me with their eyes. I squeezed my eyes shut. Beverly… you will pay for this.!!
