Chapter 4
Inside the lounge, Anna threw herself into Adam’s arms. Tilting her alluring face up, she kissed him eagerly.
“Adam, I missed you so much. Just let me kiss you a little longer.”
Adam wrapped one arm around her waist and placed the other behind her head, responding with deep, hungry kisses.
After a long while, Anna pushed him away, cheeks flushed, breath shallow. “Okay, that’s enough. You should go back to
Chelsea now.”
“Are you sure you can let me go?” Adam’s eyes were clouded with lust as he traced her red lips with his thumb.
Anna lowered her gaze. “I can’t. But I don’t want Chelsea to feel hurt. She didn’t even answer your calls because of me. I can wait until you’re done with her.”
“You’re so considerate it breaks my heart. But I can’t let go of you either,” Adam whispered. “Now be good and listen to me. Don’t think about anyone else. Just enjoy the pleasure I’m giving you.”
His lips trailed from her mouth down to her neck, then to her chest.
Moans of pleasure escaped Anna’s lips. Her nails dug into his back as she whispered breathlessly.
“Adam, not there… I can’t take it…”
“You little minx,” he chuckled lowly, “isn’t this what you like most?”
The room filled with heat and lust.
Watching such an intimate scene unfold, Chelsea felt like she had plunged into an icy house.
She bit hard into the back of her hand to stop herself from sobbing aloud. She had thought she wouldn’t feel pain anymore, but witnessing it with her own eyes still tore her apart.
Adam had betrayed her, completely and utterly, in both body and soul.
“That bastard,” her wolf cursed quietly inside her.
A burning churned in her stomach and a wave of nausea hit her hard. She covered her mouth and ran to the restroom, retching uncontrollably as sharp pains twisted through her lower abdomen.
She clutched her stomach, her vision blurred with tears.
I’m so sorry, baby.
Sorry you had to witness your father like this. Forgive me for not being able to bring you into this world.
Chelsea’s face was ghostly pale as she staggered out of the bathroom. The deck was buzzing with people, but there was still no sign of Adam or Anna.
By the time the fireworks show ended, Adam and Anna returned one after the other.

Anna looked radiant, thoroughly satisfied.
She deliberately sat beside Chelsea and handed her a velvet jewelry box, smiling sweetly.
“Chelsea, this is a gift I made for you.”
“Thank you and Adam for everything you’ve done for me. Five years ago, it wasn’t me who saved you but it was the two of you who saved me. I hope your bonding lasts forever, and that you’re always happy.”
Inside the box was a bright green bracelet, so garish it stung the eyes.
Chelsea stared at it blankly and forced a smile.
“Keep it for yourself. I don’t like it.”
Anna’s hand trembled, and her eyes reddened instantly. She instinctively looked toward Adam.
But Adam acted as though he hadn’t noticed her glance. His soft eyes remained on Chelsea, as if she were the only one in
his world.
“Since Chelsea doesn’t like it, then you take it back,” he said calmly.
Anna looked wounded as she tucked the bracelet away. “Then may I toast to Chelsea?” she asked softly. “I hope our Luna will always be happy.”
Chelsea didn’t refuse this time. She took the drink Anna handed her and took a sip.
Anna smiled again and turned away, but in that moment, her eyes flashed with something cold and vicious.
She stumbled, tripping over a chair, and fell to the ground with a cry. Clutching her belly in pain, she gasped, “It hurts…”
The crowd panicked.
Someone near her rushed to lift her up. Then they noticed the red spreading across the hem of her skirt and froze in shock. All eyes turned to Adam. Chelsea, too, instinctively turned to see his reaction.
Adam, however, looked unfazed.
When he caught Chelsea watching him, he offered a gentle smile and reached for her hand. He said calmly to the others,
“Take her to the pack doctor. I’ll stay and watch the rest of the performance with my Luna.”
Pack members surrounded Anna and helped her off the yacht.
Adam never let go of Chelsea’s hand, listening quietly to the band’s performance.
If Chelsea hadn’t already known their true relationship, she might’ve been fooled by his act once again.
But now, his performance only made her feel more disappointed.
The ache in her lower belly worsened. The pain radiated, sharp and relentless.
She was about to tell Adam she wanted to go home when his phone rang.
“Alpha, you rushed back to the pack house earlier today, but the issue with the pack cooperation is still unresolved. Could you come to the pack hall now?” came beta Jeremy’s urgent voice over the line.
Adam frowned, fell silent for a moment, then hung up.
When he looked up at Chelsea, his eyes carried a tinge of guilt.
“Baby, I need to go to the pack hall. Just wait here a little while. I’ll have the driver come pick you up, okay?”
Chelsea gave a cold smile inwardly.
“Sure. Go ahead.”
Adam stood and leaned down, trying to kiss her forehead, but she turned away, pretending to cough.
He didn’t think much of it and left in a hurry.
Chelsea knew he wasn’t going to the pack hall. He was heading straight to the Pack hospital to check on Anna.
Oddly, her heart no longer ached quite as much.
She waited for half an hour, but no driver came to pick her up.
The pain in her abdomen intensified, sharp enough to make her double over. She glanced at the shattered wine glass on
the floor and a sickening thought crept in.
Anna poisoned the drink.
With trembling hands, Chelsea forced herself upright and picked up a piece of the broken glass that still held remnants of
the liquid.
The pain in her stomach grew stronger, spreading from her stomach down to her lower abdomen. She could clearly feel a
force tearing at her belly, waves of heat flowing through her.
She instinctively called Adam, but he didn’t pick up.
She tried the driver’s number, but there was still no answer.
In a final effort, Chelsea dialed emergency services with the last of her strength…
