Chapter 21

Chelsea stood confidently on the stage, passionately explaining the founding purpose of the charity and rallying capable people to join the cause.

Adam lingered in the corner, watching Chelsea in her formal attire, speaking with poise and confidence. A flicker of awe flashed through his eyes.

He hadn’t seen this radiant version of Chelsea in a long time. Ever since they had been together, she seemed trapped at the bottom of a well, her world revolving only around him.

She had given everything, all-in, loving him fiercely, and yet he had let her down.

At that moment, Adam finally seemed to understand Chelsea’s coldness and resolve.

The Chelsea who loved him had died long ago, crushed by his repeated lies and betrayals. Only by leaving him completely

could she be reborn.

Now, Chelsea had a career she loved, a life she longed for. She had finally escaped that well.

Maybe he shouldn’t disturb her anymore.

“Why are you back again?” Chelsea stepped down from the stage, immediately locking eyes with Adam.

He looked more and more worn out, as if deliberately punishing himself.

“Chelsea, have you been happier since leaving me?” he asked hoarsely, his gaze burning into her.

“Yes, you’re right.” Chelsea’s tone was firm.

Adam lowered his eyes, a bitter smile tugging at his lips. “I’m sorry for hurting you before.”

“I don’t need your apology because I stopped hating you a long time ago. Go now, do what you need to do.”

Chelsea’s voice was distant and cold. With that, she turned and walked away.

Adam stood rooted to the spot, staring blankly at her retreating figure. His chest ached and tightened, and his vision

blurred, as if a dark shadow had fallen over him.

The next moment, he collapsed to the ground.

After resting for a while, he picked himself up, brushing it off.

He went to a florist and ordered a year’s worth of fresh flowers to be delivered to Chelsea’s office every day.

Then, Adam chose to walk away.

No sooner had he stepped off the plane than he was surrounded by pack members, pressing him to step down.

His expression darkened as he signed an agreement with them.

If he couldn’t improve the pack within six months, he would voluntarily give up the Alpha position. But if he succeeded, no

one would have the right to oppose any decision he made thereafter.

Adam threw himself back into work, practically living in the pack’s study. Every major collaboration involving the pack was personally overseen by him.

He worked around the clock, often going three days with less than four hours of sleep.

Often, he felt dizzy or saw spots, but he chalked it up to exhaustion and didn’t pay much attention.

Six months passed in the blink of an eye. Adam overdelivered on the agreement. The pack elders were stunned and began complimenting and praising him.

They thought Adam cared deeply about the pack, which was why he worked so hard.

In truth, Adam did all of it for Chelsea.
