Chapter 2
“Luna, the abdominal injury from your car accident was severe. The fact that you managed to get pregnant is a miracle. If you terminate this pregnancy, I’m afraid it might be very difficult for you to conceive again in the future,” the pack doctor said gently, his expression troubled. “Please think it through, and maybe talk it over with the Alpha.”
Chelsea’s fingers curled slightly, her chest tightening in pain.
Adam had never told her any of this.
Every time their parents pressured them to have a child, he would take the blame himself, saying he still wanted more time for just the two of them and didn’t want a baby to come between them.
Tears welled in her eyes.
He had always acted so considerate, trying to spare her feelings.
But no matter how good he had been, it couldn’t erase the fact that he had deceived her.
“Thank you. I’ll think about it.”
Chelsea stumbled out of the exam room in a daze, only to unexpectedly run into Adam and Anna in the hallway, who had
apparently returned to the pack.
Adam was carefully supporting Anna as they exited the ultrasound room. His expression was anxious, his gaze gentle
and full of affection as he looked at her, not once glancing away.
“Adam, you don’t need to be so nervous. I’m pregnant, not sick,” Anna said with a bright smile.
Adam chuckled, unable to hide the joy on his face. “Of course I’m nervous. This is our first child. I want to take good care
of you.”
Chelsea gripped the appointment slip in her hand tightly, the warmth slowly draining from her body. She could almost
hear the sound of her own heart shattering. Her eyes stung, but no tears came.
Her wolf, furious, simply glared at them in silence.
So this was what it meant to be in pain beyond tears.
Chelsea watched as Adam supported Anna as they stepped into the elevator. She slowly unfolded the crumpled appointment slip in her hand and walked back to the exam room, this time officially scheduling the procedure for the day after tomorrow.
She wouldn’t let her child be born into a world full of lies, nor would she allow them to be born without a father.
As if fate was playing a cruel joke on her, Chelsea ran into Adam and Anna again in the underground parking lot. On a whim, she got into her car and followed them.
She found Adam took Anna to The Silver Fork.
Chelsea’s heart sank.
The Silver Fork was a restaurant Adam had personally designed and built for her birthday last year.
He once told her it was a place only she deserved to dine in.
Chapter 2
2009
And now, he had brought another she-wolf there himself.
Inside The Silver Fork, Anna was seated at Chelsea’s favorite table. A delicate dessert sat before her. Not far away, pushed out a serving cart.
Adam
He gracefully took off the flower pinned to his chest and handed it to Anna. Dangling beneath it was a sparkling diamond
necklace.
“Congratulations, my little princess. You’re going to be a mom.”
“Adam… thank you. I’m so happy,” Anna said tearfully. “You even cooked for me yourself.”
“Come on, feed me a bite. After that, you’ll head home. You’ve already spent too many days with me. It’s time you went back to Chelsea and keep her company,” Anna said, blinking hard to force out a few tears.
Adam pulled her into his arms, heart aching. “Silly girl. I’m not going anywhere tonight. I’m staying right here with you.”
“But what about Chelsea? Tomorrow’s your mating anniversary. She’ll be upset if you don’t go back to her.”
“I’ve already made arrangements. You don’t need to worry about that,” Adam replied as he gently stroking her hair and placed the necklace around her neck. “You’re my Luna now. From now on, I’ll spend more time with you and our child.”
From around the corner, Chelsea staggered back a few steps until her back hit the cold wall. The chill seeped into her bones, making her tremble uncontrollably.
He was right. Anna was his legal Luna now.
And she was nothing but a fool with no title, no name.
She still remembered the first time Adam brought her to The Silver Fork. That day, he had also gifted her a diamond necklace. To cook for her, he had even secretly studied with a Michelin-star chef for a month.
“Honey, try my cooking,” he had said with a warm smile. “From now on, I’ll take care of all your meals.”
“I’ll love you for a lifetime. Only you,” he had whispered, placing the necklace around her neck and swearing his devotion.
Now, all that love and tenderness he once gave her, he had repackaged and handed to Anna.
Her chest felt tight and suffocating.
Adam’s ‘for a lifetime’ had turned out to be so short.
Chelsea turned and fled the restaurant. By the time she stepped outside, her face was already streaked with tears.
She went straight to a law firm and asked the lawyer, Deacon, to assess all her assets. Anything that was linked to Adam
-she wanted to return it to him.
The inheritance her parents had left her was enough to last several lifetimes. She didn’t need money. All she wanted was
to sever every last connection with Adam as quickly as possible.
By the time dusk fell, everything was handled. She drove back to the pack house, exhausted.
The pack house was empty. Only a single lamp had been left on for her by the servants. She slumped onto the sofa,
exhausted, staring at the dozens of framed photos of her and Adam decorating the house. It felt like a boulder had settled on her chest and each heartbeat brought with it a wave of unbearable pain.
She rubbed her temples and stood up to take down the wall full of photo frames.
There was their first childhood photo. She was in a pink dress, while he called her the prettiest princess.
There was a photo from their first dance. He held her by the waist gently and told her she could never dance with anyone
else.
There was one from their first date. He spun her around in circles, laughing that he was the luckiest man in the world.
One by one, she pulled the photos out and fed them into the shredder.
Every memory between them was ground into pieces.
She kept at it the whole night, destroying every trace of their past, erasing every sweet moment until there was nothing
left.
By the time dawn arrived, her arms were numb from the effort. But Adam still hadn’t come home.
And today was their mating anniversary.
