Chapter 16

Under Traci’s guidance, Chelsea finally left the mountain.

The moment she returned to the city, she reached out to the Alpha of the local pack.

She wanted to build a road that would lead directly to that isolated town. She wanted to install communication towers so they could receive news from the outside world.

She planned to establish a training center and bring in pack doctors to improve the quality of life, reduce the risk of wildfires, and prevent homeless werewolves from losing their way and turning into ruthless rogues.

Even if they weren’t officially a pack, she believed they could become one.

It was an enormous project. Chelsea invested over a hundred million dollars and personally led a team back to the town to begin construction.

“Sweet girl, why are you back again?” Traci’s eyes turned red when she saw her. “The conditions here are terrible. You’re

not used to this kind of place.”

“It won’t stay this way. Things are going to get better. Life will be good here. just wait.” Chelsea hugged her tightly.

The werewolves in the town didn’t fully understand what “construction” meant, but they knew one thing: Chelsea wouldn’t

hurt them.

Everyone who was able-bodied came to help. No matter how hard Chelsea tried to persuade them to rest, they insisted on

contributing.

She arranged for pack doctors to conduct full checkups for the elderly and children. She even personally began teaching the young ones to read and write, and encouraged them to join physical training sessions.

For the first time in her life, Chelsea felt like she had a purpose.

She realized that even without Adam, the world could still be vibrant and full of meaning.

That day, Chelsea was teaching the children how to use a bow and arrow when Traci walked in with someone behind her.

“Sweet girl, someone’s here to see you,” Traci said with a smile in her eyes.

Chelsea’s heart suddenly skipped a beat. Her first thought was that Adam had found her, and an unexpected wave of

irritation rose in her chest.

She liked the life she had now. She didn’t want anything to do with him.

Frowning, she looked toward the door and froze instantly.

Traci gently pushed the man behind her forward. “I already tested him for you. He’s not a bad guy.”

“Thank you for the compliment. I intend to keep being a good one.”

Deacon stood in the doorway, backlit by the sun, dressed in a black tracksuit. The warmth in his smile was like sunlight itself.

Chelsea stood up, eyes wide in surprise as she looked at him. “Mr. Munro? What are you doing here?”

“I came to look for you,” he said straightforwardly.

“Are you here to look for me?”

Chelsea tried to think if there were any unfinished pack-related issues they hadn’t settled.

After her parents passed away, she had left the pack’s affairs in the hands of a beta. And Deacon had been the legal advisor the beta had brought in.

She had entrusted him with handling all financial matters related to Adam and had already paid the legal fees in full.

After being with Adam for so many years, she had almost lost all social connections. She and Deacon had never been close, certainly not friends.

She truly couldn’t think of a single reason he would come looking for her.

“Chelsea, do you really not remember me? Five years ago, you were in that car accident because you saved me.” Deacon’s voice softened, a trace of pain flashing in his eyes as he brought up that accident from back then.

Five years ago, it should have been Deacon who got hit that day.

His half-brother had hired someone to kill him. Just as the car was about to run him over, Chelsea had pulled him out of

the way.

But the murderer, furious that she had interfered, ran her over instead.

If she hadn’t saved him, she never would’ve been in that accident. Anna never would have appeared in her life. And all the

pain that followed, none of it would’ve happened.
