Chapter 14
When Adam regained consciousness, he was already in the hospital. He had suffered a severe concussion and had been
in a coma for an entire week.
The first thing he saw when he opened his eyes was his mother, Luna Sheila. Her face was etched with worry. But when she saw him wake, her expression darkened.
“Adam,” she said coldly, “I always thought you were righteous, different from that bastard father of yours. But… you’ve
really let me down.”
Sheila didn’t hold back, scolding.
“I know everything that happened with Chelsea. It was you who wronged her. Don’t go looking for her again. She’ll never forgive you in this lifetime.”
Under the covers, Adam’s hands trembled. A wave of pain spread through his chest. He shook his head firmly.
“No. I will find her. I’ll make her forgive me. I’ll bring her back.”
He couldn’t let go of the years of love they had shared. He had made a mistake and he admitted that.
But no matter what it cost, he would find Chelsea and win her back.
“Mom, I’ll handle this,” with that, Adam closed his eyes, refusing to say another word to Sheila.
Sheila stayed with him a while longer, but when she saw her words couldn’t change his mind, she got up and quietly left.
Back then, Alpha Michael had cheated on Sheila and had died in a plane crash while trying to elope with his mistress.
Sheila had hated him for it and had raised Adam to be loyal and devoted, to cherish his mate and never betray the mate
bond.
She had once believed Adam’s love for Chelsea was pure and unwavering, that he would cherish her for a lifetime.
Now, she no longer wanted to interfere. She only hoped Chelsea wouldn’t be hurt again.
The moment Sheila left, Adam discharged himself from the hospital.
He went straight to see Anna, bringing the investigation file with him. She had been locked in the dungeon for a week and
now looked utterly worn out, like a dried husk of herself.
The second she saw Adam, she threw herself at him.
“Adam! You finally came to see me. Please let me out. I’m so hungry, and so is the baby.”
She grabbed his hand and placed it over her belly, hoping he’d show mercy for the sake of the child.
“Please forgive me, okay? I never really tried to hurt Chelsea before. I just got jealous recently and lost my mind, starting
competing with her. I know I was wrong. I swear, I’ll behave from now on.”
“Let’s go find Chelsea together. I’ll apologize. I’ll be good, I promise.”

Tears streamed down her face as she pleaded. In the past, Adam might’ve softened at this and coaxed her.
But now, he remained cold, his face expressionless, his eyes icy as he stared at her, like he was staring at a corpse.
“Drop the act, Anna. If it weren’t for the fact that you once saved Chelsea, you’d already be dead.”
Adam gripped her chin tightly and shoved her away with force.
“What are you doing? Adam, I mean it! I know I messed up, but please don’t hurt me. I’m carrying your child!” She stared at him in terror, her eyes wide, feeling like she could barely breathe.
“Don’t worry,” Adam said coldly. “You won’t be carrying it much longer.”
He released her. She crumpled to the floor helplessly, clutching her throat and gasping for air.
“You… you can’t do this to me…”
She barely got the words out before she saw warriors enter, holding a baseball bat. She shrank back in horror.
The warriors grabbed her as she struggled, dragging her upright.
Adam took the bat with his own hands.
And without a moment’s hesitation, he swung it hard right into her stomach.
Anna screamed in agony. Blood gushed between her legs as her face twisted in unbearable pain.
“Adam, you’re insane! That’s your child too! You’re a monster!”
Adam, however, turned a deaf ear to her pleading. He hit her again hard. Her body convulsed with pain, her voice breaking.
“Please… please stop… I’m begging you…”
A third strike landed.
Anna was in full seizure now, unable to even form words. Her pleas died in her throat.
As blood poured out of her and her body shook from pain, Adam’s eyes reddened.
Chelsea must’ve felt the equal pain when she was beaten.
“Keep going,” he ordered the warriors. “Ninety-nine lashes. Then throw her in the Pack prison. Make sure she doesn’t die.” He dropped the bat and turned to leave. “I want her alive to atone.”
But as he stepped out, a sharp pain ripped through-his chest.
He clutched his heart, doubled over as blood spilled from the corner of his mouth.
He collapsed to the ground, shaking in pain.
“Baby, where are you? I miss you so much. I can’t live without you.”
