Chapter 8
Brent first drove Adeline back to the villa. After she got out of the car, he said, “You go back home and wait for me obediently. I will take Mariah home.”
Adeline didn’t say anything and silently turned around to enter the villa.
The sound of the car starting came from behind and gradually faded away, and she didn’t look back
either.
After returning to the villa, Adeline began to sort out her belongings, throwing away what needed to be thrown away, discarding what needed to be discarded, and donating what needed to be donated.
But it was also through this process that Adeline realized that they had been married for only three years, yet they already had so many shared memories.
The jewelry in her jewelry box, for the most part, was all gifts from him. From bracelets to

That was made by Brent himself during their first year of marriage.
When they first got married, Brent was good to her. She was twenty years old that year and still a student doing experiments with her teacher. Her parents didn’t agree with her continuing her research, so they married her off to him shortly after she left the laboratory.
Once her identity changed to that of a married woman and she withdrew from her dream experiment, she became extremely anxious. She would stay awake all night, unable to sleep, and even when she finally managed to fall asleep, she would easily be awakened by nightmares.
Brent tried many methods, most of which only provided temporary relief for a few days.
Later, I don’t know where he heard about dream catchers from, so he learned to make one himself and hung it by her bedside, saying, “With this dream catcher, my little girl will be able to ward off
those nightmares.”
I don’t know if it was the dreamcatcher that really worked or if she finally found relief from anxiety in his tenderness, but since that day, she surprisingly never had nightmares again.
Now, she took off the dreamcatcher and threw it into a cardboard box.
When Adeline was tidying up her clothes, she found another photo album from the wardrobe. She opened it and realized that it contained the group photos they had taken together over the past few
years.
It was his first birthday that she celebrated with him. She smeared a lot of cream on his face and

took this photo together with her. Looking into her eyes, she was full of indulgence and nostalgia.
What do I miss? Do I miss the white moonlight that I couldn’t be with, through her face that bears
me resemblance to him, who is far away in a foreign land?
Adeline didn’t want to continue reading any further, so she threw a thick photo album into a
cardboard box.
She cleared out everything that was related to herself, and the last one was her wedding ring.
She still remembers the day of the wedding when Brent put this wedding ring on her finger and said he would be loyal to her for a lifetime, forever.
To this day, Adeline is still unsure. When he said those words, he couldn’t be certain if the

By the time everything was finally taken care of, it was already late in the evening and Brent had just returned.
He looked around and felt a strange sensation in his heart, “Did you lose a lot of things? Why does it feel like the house is empty?”
“I just did a big clean–up and threw away everything that didn’t belong here,” Adeline said, her expression unchanged. She didn’t say the last sentence.
Including me.
Brent, not doubting himself, crouched down and leaned close to her abdomen, listening carefully. He voiced his confusion, “Why haven’t I been hearing the baby’s heartbeat lately?”
Upon hearing Brent’s question, Adeline smiled faintly and remained silent.
How could he possibly still hear the child’s heartbeat? After all, the child had already been gone a
month ago.
Brent was completely unaware of this. She didn’t answer, so he didn’t ask again. Instead, he got up
and hugged her.
“Adele, Mariah, and I have nothing going on. I let her have the villa because it’s not convenient for her to keep staying in hotels as a girl. The incident with the jade pendant was my fault for not being considerate enough. Once I have prepared a compensation for her, I will take the jade pendant back.”
He gently comforted his wife, who he thought was still throwing a tantrum, and then said, “I haven’t put you to sleep for a long time. Today, can I put you and the baby to sleep?”
Adeline did not resist his embrace but also did not respond to his words, as she was carried back to the bedroom by Brent’s strength.

Just as Brent walked into the bedroom, he received a message. He glanced down at it and quickly replied while hurrying out.
Before leaving, he didn’t forget to remind Adeline, “Adele, something urgent came up at my company. You go ahead and rest, I’ll be back soon.”
