Chapter 9
Gauge’s car slowly came to a stop at the entrance of the banquet hall. As soon as the car door opened, he took a step out and was immediately surrounded by a large group of brothers.
They gathered around, chattering excitedly, their faces filled with anticipation, as if waiting for the beginning of a good show.
Gauge, what about the video? Wasn’t it supposed to be released today? someone asked impatiently, their eyes gleaming with gossip.
Gauge furrowed his brow slightly as he leisurely pulled out his phone from his pocket. Under the eager gazes of the crowd, the faint glow of the phone screen flickered in his hand.
However, just as everyone thought he was about to unlock it, he suddenly put the phone back in his pocket and said lightly, “I won’t send it.”
These simple three words, like throwing a huge stone into a calm lake, instantly stirred up at
thousand layers of waves.
Everyone widened their eyes, their faces filled with disbelief.
No way?! everyone exclaimed in unison, their faces filled with disbelief.
Someone couldn’t help but ask, “Gauge, what do you mean? Didn’t we agree to give Kamren a ‘big surprise‘ today?”
Yeah, we’ve been preparing for so long, why did it suddenly stop? Gauge, don’t play jokes on us!
Gauge’s eyes grew cold, and there was a hint of impatience in his tone. “It doesn’t mean anything, I just feel like it’s not the right time yet. The more videos there are, the deeper Kamren’s pain will become. Why the rush?”
The brothers looked at each other, clearly surprised by his answer.
Someone couldn’t help but mutter under their breath, “It’s been three years already, isn’t that enough? Gauge, you’ve really been acting strange lately.” Another person simply asked directly, “Gauge, tell me the truth, are you…
No! Gauge abruptly interrupted him, his voice as cold as ice. His gaze was sharp, scanning every person present. “The video is mine and hers, and I’ll release it whenever I want. I appreciate your concern, brothers, but don’t overstep your boundaries.”
The atmosphere suddenly became awkward, and the brothers quickly stepped forward to smooth things over,
their tone filled with appeasement.
Gauge, we didn’t mean it that way, don’t be angry, someone patted his shoulder.

Yes, yes, we were just asking casually, don’t take it to heart.
Gauge didn’t speak anymore, turned around and walked into the banquet hall, and started inspecting the decorations.
His gaze swept over every detail, and his brow furrowed tighter and tighter.
He pointed at the bouquet on the table, his voice low and powerful, with an unquestionable authority. “This flower is not acceptable, replace it. She doesn’t like pink, she likes blue. Hurry up and go buy a new one.”
He pointed at the carpet again, “This carpet too, the color is too dark, change to a lighter shade.”
And how can it be so empty here, put up some balloons.
There were gifts piled up here, didn’t I buy a bunch of gifts!
The waiter and the planning team were being commanded by him in a whirlwind, while the brothers stood aside, watching in astonishment.
Someone murmured, “What’s wrong with Gauge? He has never been so concerned before. Is this still the same nonchalant Gauge we know?”
Yeah, I really don’t know what he was thinking. Wasn’t he just using Jovany? He could have just thrown a simple birthday party, why go through all this trouble?
Another person shook their head, “Something is wrong, very wrong.”
Gauge seemed to not hear their discussion and took out an exquisite box from his pocket. He gently
opened the box, revealing a dazzling and stunning necklace in front of everyone.
He raised his gaze and asked the person beside him.
Do you think she would like this necklace?
Someone approached and took a look, immediately exclaiming, “Damn! It’s worth billions! Gauge, are you really going to give it to Jovany? That’s too extravagant!”
Gauge’s expression was somewhat unnatural, but his tone remained cold, “Only like this, can she love me even more deeply.”
The brothers breathed a sigh of relief, and someone patted his shoulder with a smile. “So Gauge was actually playing the long game to catch a big fish! No wonder he’s Gauge, so meticulous in his thinking!”
Gauge didn’t say a word, but simply tidied up the box and scanned every corner of the banquet hall with his eyes, as if confirming if everything was perfect.

His focused expression was somewhat unfamiliar, as if this banquet was not just a means of revenge for him.
Soon, the
guests arrived one after another. Most of them were well–known figures. When they saw Gauge, they all smiled and came forward to greet him.
Mr. Adkins, throwing such a grand birthday banquet for your girlfriend, that’s quite a lavish gesture! someone teased with a smile. “When are you getting married? We’re all looking forward to toasting at your wedding!”
Gauge smiled slightly and said calmly, “It was fast. Once she nodded, I would marry her.”
The guests laughed heartily and praised him affectionately.
The brothers stood aside, listening to his answer, their expressions on their faces becoming more
and more complicated.
Someone whispered, “Gauge acted so convincingly in this play, I almost believed it.”
Another person shook their head repeatedly, “Something is wrong, really wrong. Gauge has never
been this serious before.”
The banquet officially began, with dazzling lights and melodious music.
Jovany, however, did not appear for a long time.
Gauge stood in the center of the banquet hall, occasionally scanning towards the entrance, his brow furrowing tighter and tighter.
He took out his phone and was about to make a call to ask.
Suddenly, the door was pushed open.
