Chapter 2
On the other end of the phone, Kamren’s voice carried a hint of disbelief, “Jova, are you really willing to come back? And are you willing to meet the person your brother introduced? What about
your boyfriend who was head over heels in love with you?
Jovany’s voice was soft, “I didn’t like it, and I won’t like it anymore in the future.”
After Kamren’s joy, he immediately realized something keenly and his tone turned cold, “Did he bully you?”
Jovany’s mind instantly flashed with those harsh conversations, those videos casually mentioned by Gauge, and his cold voice.
She was in pain, but she had to stay conscious.
My older brother has always protected her. If he had known the truth, he would probably have gone straight to Galwiea and killed them.
She couldn’t let her brother worry anymore. She had to solve these rotten matters herself.
No, brother, she forced herself to calm down, “Once I have sorted things out here, I will come back immediately.”
After giving a few more instructions, the older brother reluctantly hung up the phone, and Jovany
also returned home.
She went to the bathroom and took a shower. After getting rid of all the mess, she walked to the
coffee table and took out a piece of white paper to start making a list.
Her pen tip wrote a few lines on the paper.
Lost things, packed luggage, resigned, bid farewell to friends, deleted videos.
These are all the things she needed to take care of before leaving.
Her gaze lingered on the last item for a long time, her fingertips trembling slightly.
Thinking about the birthday plan she heard at the club, she had to leave before her birthday.
With this in mind, she picked up the calendar on the table and circled that date heavily with a red
pen.
Did you intentionally scratch it, afraid that I wouldn’t remember?
The villa gate opened, and suddenly Gauge’s voice came from behind, with a hint of laziness in his
smile. Jovany’s fingers stiffened, and the pen tip drew a long trace on the paper.

She turned around and saw Gauge leaning against the door, holding a suit jacket in his hand, with the collar of his shirt slightly open, revealing a glimpse of his delicate collarbone.
His gaze fell on the calendar in her hand, with a slight smile on his lips. “How could I forget the baby’s birthday? That day, I even prepared a big surprise for you.”
Jovany’s fingers tightly gripped the pen as he lifted his head and met his eyes, tugging at the corner of his lips. “Lals
prepared a big surprise for you.”
Gauge paused for a moment and then chuckled, “Why would I prepare a surprise birthday?”
for your your
He walked up to her and reached out to ruffle her hair, speaking in an indulgent tone, “By the way, did you invite your brother over on your birthday?”
Jovany’s heart skipped a beat, and his fingers unconsciously tightened around the edge of the table.
She lifted her head and asked, feigning calmness, “Did you miss me?”
Gauge looked down at her, a hint of complexity flashing in his eyes.
He smiled and his voice became low, “Please. It’s just a laugh to forget past grievances. I have been fighting with your brother for so many years, and I don’t want to admit defeat. But who made me fall in love with his precious sister? To bow down for love, there’s nothing embarrassing about it.”
Jovany’s throat felt as if it was blocked, and he couldn’t say a word.
Gauge lowered his head wanting to kiss her, but she turned her head away and softly said, “I’m not feeling well today, let’s not do it.”
Gauge paused for a moment, then chuckled lightly and kissed her forehead. “Alright, then you rest
early.”
He finished speaking and turned around to enter the bathroom.
Jovany stood in place, listening to the sound of water coming from the bathroom, his fingers tightly gripping the edge of the table.
Her gaze fell on the phone Gauge had casually thrown on the couch, and her heart raced as if it was
about to burst out of her chest.
She took the phone gently and tried the password several times, but she couldn’t unlock it.
Her fingers trembled slightly, and a wave of powerlessness washed over her.
Finally, she could only put her phone back in its original place, forcing herself to calm down first, and then figure out a solution.

The next morning, when Gauge woke up, he found Jovany packing his things.
Her feet were surrounded by their couple items – couple cups, couple slippers, couple pillows…
Gauge furrowed his brow and walked over to her, his tone tinged with a hint of confusion, “How did you suddenly lose all of these?”
Jovany didn’t even lift his head, his voice was faint, “I didn’t like it, I will buy it later.”
Gauge didn’t ask any further questions, he just smiled and said, “Don’t worry about it, I’ll have the servant tidy it up for you later. It’s almost time, shall I take you to the dance troupe
first?”
Jovany shook his head and said, “No need, I already called to resign.”
Gauge paused for a moment, furrowing his brow slightly. “Didn’t you dislike dancing? Why did you suddenly quit?”
Jovany lifted his head, his gaze calm, “I was a bit tired and wanted to take a break for a while.”
Gauge fell silent for a few seconds, then reached out and ruffled her hair. “It’s good to quit, dancing was too tiring, and also…”
His fingers gently glided over her waist, his voice low and husky, “Baby, with such a soft waist, I don’t want anyone else to see it either.”
Jovany avoided his hand and said coldly, “You go ahead and busy yourself.”
After Gauge left, Jovany spent most of the day and finally got rid of all those couple items.
Standing in the empty living room, my heart felt as if it was being blocked by something, making it
hard to breathe.
Just at that moment, her phone suddenly vibrated.
She picked it up and took a look, it was a strange text message.
At three o’clock in the afternoon, I met at Treehouse Cafe. I am Gauge’s fiancée.
Jovany’s fingers suddenly clenched the phone, and his knuckles turned white.
