But others were not so easily fooled. A boy sitting next to Devon had a mocking look in his eyes as he waved his index finger in front of him. “Looks like you haven’t taken a single step yet, Devon. Your progress is not good!”
“You’re talking nonsense again.” Devon reached out with his long arm, resting it on the shoulder of the boy next to him, and covered his mouth with one hand. His voice carried a hint of gritted teeth as he turned to Adeline with a forced smile and explained, “Adele, don’t listen to their nonsense. Cody is someone who just likes to talk rubbish.”
Adeline nodded, feeling a bit uncomfortable being surrounded by so many people. Normally, everyone in the laboratory was very serious and didn’t engage in much conversation outside of experiments. This was her first gathering in the laboratory in a year, and it was also the first time she had seen such lively and outgoing people.
