Chapter 20
Adeline’s parents did not linger for long. After booking the earliest flight to Grenia, they went straight to the airport.
Due to the time difference between the two places, fourteen hours later, when the two arrived in Grenia, it was still late at night. They found a hotel near the laboratory and stayed there.
Upon seeing her parents, who appeared in front of her covered in dust, Adeline felt a sourness rise in her nose. After a big hug, Madam Nolan suddenly put on a stern face.
“Without saying a word, you came to Grenia to conduct research, changed your contact information, and didn’t even let us know how to reach you. You’ve grown wings and become bold, haven’t you? If it wasn’t for us finding our way here, when were you planning to hide it from us?”
Upon hearing her mother’s questioning, she turned her face and caught sight of her father’s disapproving expression, which was identical to hers. Feeling a bit guilty, Adeline lowered her
head.
Deciding to go abroad with Devon to continue her research, she did not consult with anyone,
including her parents.
Adeline believed that they loved her, but she was also afraid that Adeline’s parents would eventually think that the best outcome for a girl is to marry a reliable man and would adamantly
refuse her to go abroad.
She fiddled with her dress hem and after a while, she pouted and said in a muffled voice, “Dad, Mom, I didn’t want to get married again. I wanted to continue pursuing the dreams I couldn’t fulfill
before…”
Sir Nolan sighed as he took one look at her gloomy expression and immediately understood what
was on her mind.
“That’s it, that’s it. If you want to continue doing it, go ahead. It’s just a bit tiring, but after all, it’s something you like and something that others can’t take away from you. If you don’t meet the right person to marry, it’s not just a little tiring.”
Madam Nolan also touched her hair gently, with a gentle expression. “Yes, it’s good that you like it. This time, Mom and Dad won’t stop you anymore. However, Mom and Dad still hope that Adele can take good care of herself in daily life, okay?”
As a few people were talking, Devon unconsciously walked up behind them. He was about to greet them when he saw Adeline patting her chest, smiling brightly.
“Mom, Dad, don’t worry, I will take care of myself!”
Upon hearing her assurance, Adeline’s parents added Adeline’s contact information back and were about to leave with a sense of relief. Just as they looked up, they noticed Devon approaching and

asked with some confusion, “Who is this?”
“Mom, Dad, this is Devon, my classmate from when I was studying. He is now my lab partner,” Adeline turned around and saw the person, her eyes lit up, and she immediately started introducing him. After introducing him, she was about to introduce Adeline’s parents, but to her surprise, Devon took the initiative and extended his hand towards them.
“Sir Nolan, Madam Nolan, hello.”
One by one, Devon shook hands and then he didn’t disturb Adeline’s family reunion any further. He went into the laboratory first. Adeline was also about to follow him when Madam Nolan suddenly started gossiping.
“How old is he this year? Does he have a girlfriend?”
Although Adeline was a bit confused, after all, the person asking was her parents, so she didn’t think much and answered directly, “Devon is 26 years old this year and still doesn’t have a girlfriend, what’s wrong?”
Upon hearing this answer, Madam Nolan was very satisfied.
We were of similar age, both single and when I saw him just now, he looked at Adeline with a hint of indulgence and helplessness, patting her shoulder with great interest. “So, what do you think, how is this person Devon treating you?”
Upon hearing this question, Adeline couldn’t help but glance at Madam Nolan, unsure of what she
was thinking. However, seeing that she had no unusual expression, Adeline paused for a moment
and continued, “The people in Devon are very kind and they take good care of me. I can return to the laboratory thanks to Devon…”
When it came to praising Devon, she unconsciously said more than she should have, and she didn’t
even notice that Madam Nolan’s smile on the side was almost impossible to hide.
“Well, then you should get along well with him.”
